I am looking for a tablet or laptop that will give me the truest rendition of color and clarity. It has to be portable and I don’t care about processing speed. My average take is maybe 50-100 shots and I keep 10 if lucky. But I want those 10 to look as real as possible on my screen. Any advice? I use an Olympus PEN F, and a Fuji X100F (if that makes any difference).

I would think that you have to have a great screen if you want the best color and clarity. That probably means you should look for one that has a great color gamut. The link below is to an article about that.

Acer just announced an entry in their laptop line, I have no experience with their editing machines but I'd like to see more on it. Here's the link to an article.

I have had a good experience with MSI laptops. Their market is aimed towards serious gamers, which means they put better than average video cards in their machines and do not skimp on performance. My current laptop is over 4 years old and has no problems running memory intensive programs like Luminar 4. You should probably invest in something like the datacolor SpyderX Pro to calibrate your screen on regular schedule to get the best results.

I used MacBook Pro for several years but then switched to the iPad Pro. I like the tablet best for its clarity, colors and portability. It comes with Photos, Apple’s native editing software which is very good for most basic editing. But I also use LR CC. I no longer use LR Classic on the Mac Book Pro.
I would definitely recommend the iPad Pro

I second an iPad Pro, been using it for photo processing when on vacation or away from the house. I use LR CC and Classic so your photos are saved on a hard disc, the cloud and iCloud.

I use a Lenovo ideapad 330S, on of the least expensive laptops on the market and it works fine. Where I get really technical is with my print processor who I sit next to once a year to generate photo's for my shows.

Before I bought my MacBook Pro, I did a lot of research. I bought one and am very happy with it. I chose a 13” monitor for easy portability when traveling.

I use a Dell Inspiron 7000, it's a gaming laptop so it has a high end graphics card, a very fast processing speed and an SSD. Those were my main concerns when looking at computers. I also use an external HD for all my work. Three years ago it was $1100 but it was also way less than a comparably equipped Mac. I teach photography and do a lot of my own work using Photoshop and an HDR program, for me this is a great computer.

I use a new Samsung Galaxy Tab A 10.1....Full HD. 1920x1200. 8MP Camera Front and Back.....Android OS Pie 9, $230.00
I put my Olympus XZ1 away and use only my Samsung now, also a very good editing package but Lightweight.....
I upload to various Websites and it is very trouble free for that purpose...

I also use an Amazon Fire 8 HD $60.00 but not as good.....both are 2019 versions

The screen on the iPad Pro is fabulous. And with the addition of a keyboard (I have the Brydge keyboard), it is practically like having a touch screen laptop.

I use a 15 inch Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Extreme. Not sure if this exact model is still made and sold. ThinkPads come with different screens and resolutions. I do not think you need the most expensive screen, but that is me.

Get any laptop with a good sized SSD and as much RAM as you can afford.

And the video card in it is very important too. .

Regardless of which device you end up with, you'll find that good accuracy can only be achieved with a profiling tool. I like the XRite i1 Display Pro. Some will try to claim that their displays never go out of adjustment. All screens go out. The backlight ages, the color display elements age, and other things happen over time that will affect color fidelity. No device I know of, not even the HP, Eizo and NEC professional displays that cost upwards of $1500 are immune to this.

MrGNY, what photo processing app do you use on the iPad? Using the App store app brings up a bunch of Adobe apps.

Buy what you can afford after factoring the cost of a screen calibration system (spyder etc). I like Apple products mainly because ‘Airdrop’ is cool.
