I would love to have a generic answer and explanation "how To" The new camera's have features that need explaining. Could this be a good

I have a D7500 and purchased the book Nikon D7500 For Dummies by Julie Adair King. I found it to be very helpful especially when you check out your camera as you read the book.
Anthony, (terrific name, by the way!)
I also purchased a Nikon 7500 and love the camera. The David Busch guide book is excellent. I've been re-reading it recently, and learn new things as I review it with camera in hand. I would recommend it highly.

Do what I did. I contacted the camera company and told them my problem and requested a book manual and they sent me one.

Honestly, learning your new camera is pretty straight-forward...do your homework on-line, at your camera store, read your manual, and maybe take a course or webinar. It doesn’t get any easier than this Anthony. That’s what thousands of us have done or are doing...
Have fun!

I suspect camera manufacturers are like most companies that sell consumer products, they likely expect the consumer to do a little leg work before product purchase. When you purchase your first auto, did the dealer have to teach you to drive, or did you maybe take driver ed first. As mentioned, there are myriad sources available you can tap into to get a leg up on damn near anything you want to know about your camera of choice. Good luck.
Manuels are not particularly well written, and how to books for your camera will vary by author in quality and clarity. One series of classes in a classroom with a teacher on how to use your digital camera made a world a difference. All of a sudden the manuel made more sense as did the how to books. It definitely shortened the learning curve for me.

https://www.amazon.com/s?k=nikon+D7500&i=stripbooks&ref=nb_sb_noss_2There are a number of guide books specific to the D7500, which you might find useful. Whenever I get a new camera, I always buy a guide book for it. Even though I've been doing photography and using SLRs and DSLRs for 40 years, a guide book really helps shorten my "learning curve"! A good guide book expands upon the user manual and gives you real life examples. Looking at what's available at the above link, I recognize two authors.... David Busch and Doug Klostermann. Over the years, I've bought books by both of them and found them helpful. There may be some other good books about D7500... I just don't know the authors. So check the buyer feedback there on Amazon.
While you're spending money over at Amazon, I also HIGHLY recommend Bryan Peterson's "Understanding Exposure". It's more of an overview about how cameras work, with lots of real life examples and suggestions. It's one of the best books for someone trying to step up from being a "snap shooter" to using a more advanced camera to become a "real photographer"

always buy a guide book... Although I try to. I recently got a Canon M5 mirrorless camera and am very surprised to find there is no guide book in English for it! I found German and Japanese guides... but no English! What the heck! Ach du lieber! That's all the German I can remember. I know even less Japanese!

If it's a digital book you can have windows translate it for you. It actually works very well

The problem with the manual if it will tell you how to change a setting but might not really explain the setting. Different manufacturers might use different terminology and sometimes the name of the setting and value assigned might not give the user a clear idea of what exactly it means. Books or videos by these prenamed experts can give you a much clearer idea of what different settings will do and even make recommendations about settings to use in different situations. I just watched a great Steve Perry video with button setting suggestions for my Z7 that I’ll mostly emulate.
I bought the David Busch book for my 810 and I used it just for resetting the camera because I couldn’t figure out what adjustments effected certain other settings. A friend instructed me to leave the setting alone, what I did and started to enjoy this camera with out stress to “set it up”........
..Steve perry and Jason Odell are the one who I learned the most about settings.......Odell have a birding course (About one hour, about $29)including settings. Today I understand why the 70-200 2.8 is my best lens, before I couldn’t understand why to have a $2000 (2.8 F wasn’t necessary to have)......good luck

The manufacturers' manuals are legendary for their poor quality. There are better written guides and countless online resources for learning what you are missing. Search on Google, YouTube, and Amazon. There are many model-specific books, online tutorials and videos. Go forth my son... Seek and forthwith you will find (by searching) LOL >Alan

Anthony, the basic operation can be learned from the introductory materials in the manual. With my Canon, I often go back to the manual for things that only rarely come up--and sometimes I have called the Canon service line for instructions. (Thank goodness for that.) I am often surprised to find that the camera can do certain things that few people would ever use. And there are features that many people use all the time--but I never do. You may never discover all the features, but you need to know how, and if Nikon does not have a phone for assistance, there is always the Internet--or here. This is the ideal place for wierd information, as somebody always has experience that is relevant.

Read the manual, if he has one for your camera, try a Steve Perry video. Try going back to the store where you bought the camera. A sales person could help you or the store may have a class for new photo people.
Or go to Amazon and search for the make and model #.

You have a Treasure Trove of very knowledgeable DSLR owners that if you ask they very well may have the answer you are looking for to solve your question or concerns. I myself am still learning and I have benefited from knowledge and ideas I have read from UHH members. I hope to also be able to help others too, eventually.
Thanks I am not a young person and understand how to use the old cameras and now with technology improving I find myself lost at times. When I hear someone discussing technical items they forget my age acumen. With terminology, at times I do get lost. My life it was always hands on. I will learn it just takes me a little longer. Thanks Anthony
