I recently watched a show about the Kennedy assassination and while I'm not a big conspiracy buff, a couple of things bother me. (1.) They found 3 shell casings on the floor and assume he fired 3 times. (2 casings fairly close together and 1 some distance away) Does this mean he fired 3 times? Not necessarily. There could have been a shell casing in the rifle from the last time he fired it prior to November 22. This could explain why one casing was some distance from the other 2. I would like to know what was in the chamber when they found the rifle. (A) a spent round casing (unlikely) (B) another live round (C) nothing (2.) The bullet that struck Kennedy and Connelly (the single bullet theory) went through Kennedy's back and neck, broke a rib in Connelly, shattered Connelly's wrist bone, and went into Connelly's leg was largely intact when it fell out of Connelly's leg onto a gurney at the hospital. It is only slightly deformed. The bullet that hit Kennedy in the head literally exploded on impact. (You can even see the explosion on the Zapruder film) Witnesses who were present at the autopsy say the x-rays showed numerous small fragments in Kennedy's brain. These are clearly 2 different types of bullets. Would Oswald, who was somewhat of a cheapskate and perpetually short of money, have purchased 2 different types of ammunition? And even if he had, why would you load different types of ammo into a magazine?

OK. I've been studying this since it happened. I have heard a lot of theories. But only one is a clean novel theory. In fact, this is only theory that fits every fact of the story including the reference you made to the discrepancy in bullets.
Paraphrasing an old theory, the correct answer is often the simplest. I will just state the bottom line of that theory here without going into the supporting evidence which is voluminous. Oswald did hit Kennedy, but in the neck only. It wasn’t fatal. The fatal shot was from the Secret Serviceman’s rifle in the car behind Kennedy. That’s how the bullet tore his head apart. It wasn’t intentional. It was a mistake. The agent was standing up and when the cars accelerated after Oswalds shot, he fell back and discharged a round freakishly into the back of Kennedy’s head.

I have heard the Secret Service shot version before. If it is true, what a coverup.
Oswald was also probably using the cheapest ammo he could get - military surplus and he could have gotten more than one type all mixed together in a container.
About 10 years after that time I bought some surplus ammo that had four types mixed in the ammo can. Standard military ball, black tip (armor piercing), green tip (duplex-two under sized bullets nested one behind the other for area suppression fire by a machine gun.) and a few tracer rounds. The state of CA frowns on the AP and Tracer.
This was 7.62x51 Nato (.308 winchester), not 5.56 for an M-16 or similar. That Vietnam era Green Tip was for the M-60 and Mini-guns. I was shooting it in a Springfield Armory M-1A (civilian semi-auto only near clone of an M-14).
I used to take all of those conspiracy theories with a grain of salt until I got a chance to view the scene from the 'snipers nest' and the 'grassy knoll'. I have to say, after being there, the 'grassy knoll' theory seems much more plausible. It would also explain the flash of light on the back of the road sign in the frame before the head shot on the Zapruder film.
Numerous eyewitnesses who were at ground level close to the motorcade said they smelled gunpowder after the last shot. Oswald was 6 stories up in the School Book Depository and the wind was in his face at the time of the shooting. It is VERY UNLIKELY the smell came from his rifle. The accidental Secret Service shooting would fit their claims perfectly.

Too much conspiracy theorizing.

My take on this has always been that LBJ had it done. He was power crazy and had the character needed to do something like that. He maybe didn't pull the trigger but he had his hand in the pie!
Let's face it. We'll never know the truth about this.

Whoa! I've never heard that version before. If it's true, I certainly wouldn't want to have been that SS man and live with that the rest of my life.

From the moment that I first saw that awful scene on the news on our old B&W TV, LBJ's name popped into my head and I'm still convinced he had something to do with it. I wonder if that is why they've dragged their feet releasing the report? Or maybe they have and I was out to lunch that day.
I have never believed the Warren Report. I’ll let it go at that.
The shooter/shooters got Kennedy and we got Johnson--our loss.
