It may be true that masks and gloves do not offer much or any protection, but I have to do something to protect myself from contracting Covid-19 and if either the mask or the gloves give me even 5% of protection, then I’ll wear them when out of my home. I have nothing to lose except possibly my life. At least I am trying.

I agree fully.

My wife & I have been here at home for over a month now and have only left to pick up pre-ordered groceries put in the back of our RV for us.

Here at home we have the radio, TV and each other. Kind of like a slightly weird vacation.
We've been married 52 years now and the honeymoon isn't over yet.

I'm 81 and have C.O.P.D. and if I should catch it, I will not recover.

You are right. Also, those born stupid will never be smart.

N95 mask offer great protection if fitted properly to the face. During my Respiratory Therapist career I have fitted and performed the sniff test for properly fitted masks many times. Here is a link about the test and a video showing how it's done. We used Saccharin to perform the test. https://www.osha.gov/video/respiratory_protection/fittesting_transcript.html

I disagree with the above; the first paragraph is a direct contradiction of the second.
The post has the credibility of a three sided square.

On April 3, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention began recommending that people wear face coverings in public. You can read that coverage here: https://www.livescience.com/cdc-recommends-face-masks-coronavirus.html

Apart from the above, the World Health Organization recommends healthy people protect themselves by wearing masks when caring for those with covid 19... ipso facto, if you are wearing a mask and inadvertently encounter someone with covid 19, you are less likely to become infected.

I agree, wearing masks is just the thing to do, but many people don't think of wearing masks as a social obligation, which it should be. And when our supposed leaders do NOT lead by example it undermines the great need!

We have no leaders. Left Wingers or Right-Wingers.
We just have; lying, hypocritical, self-serving, egotistical untrustworthy whore politicians.

A big advantage of masks is keeping your hands away from your mouth and nose.

Therefore, masks are worn to help protect others, they are a societal obligation just like not driving while intoxicated or being properly trained if carrying a weapon because potential is just as leathal and should likewise be mandatory.

This is not about you, but protecting others.
Therein lies our future hope.
The masks that the public thinks of / wears will n... (show quote)

Masks WILL help reduce the spread by limiting the distance and amount of aerosols from your breath. If you add one of those blue shop towels inside you can increase its barrier protection to about 60% to keep other people's aerosols out of your nose and mouth.

They also help keep you from touching your face, no small thing.

There is no point in arguing. Let’s just wait and see who is still around in 6 weeks or so!
