I grew up 15 miles or so inland from La Conner and the photos brought back memories. Thanks for posting them. The San Juan Islands should be added to the list of nearby beautiful locations, in Puget Sound just west of La Conner and accessed by ferry from the nearby town of Anacortes. They are one of my favorite places in this world, so much so that my wife and I honeymooned there.

Two photos of the picturesque town of La Conner, Washington. The center of town is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and sits across the Swinomish Channel from the Swinomish Indian Reservation. These photos were taken from the edge of the channel on the reservation side. The last photo is of Rainbow bridge which connects the town to the reservation. The fishing boats all belong to tribal members. It was a cloudy day and threatened to rain but the rain held off until later that night. It was the first time I have taken a reasonably long drive in over a month. I hope you enjoy these images as much as I enjoyed taking them.

Thanks for sharing your great images and the info on La Conner, WA. Need to put it on my bucket list.
I assume I would fly into Bellingham International Airport from Chicago?

Make sure to go to Anacortes and do the ferry rides to the islands and then drive the backway up Chuckanut Drive to Bellingham. Bellingham used to be a real neat small town back in the '60s. Has gotten out of hand these days. Great part of the country.

I usually don't like overcast days and the photos that follow, but these are colorful and beautiful.

Beautiful! The light was your friend (or ours) for pixel peeping all the neat details you captured.

Thank you Linda and Bert. When we left Seattle I expected a sunny day. It didn't turn out that way. If there's one thing I hope I have learned about photography, it's that you have to play the hand you're dealt. And the end result here is I think the gray sky adds to each composition.
