Where does this stop. Paranoia is worst than the COVID-19.
Here's the best one I've seen.

We need to wash our hands and practice social distancing, ok, I watch what I touch, I don't touch my face. My question how do I clean my camera and lens ?
Hands is simple ;soap and water, bleach for surfaces.
OMG, this REALLY made me wince!!!!!! At least he sounded cheerful!
Sanitizers are supposed to be 60% alcohol. By this logic, 4 Oz of Jack Daniels and 2oz of water should sanitize pretty well. And since an ice cube is 2oz of water or less, just skip the water. As for the camera, I don’t know.

I don't wipe down the cars;
I open mail when I get it;
I stay home except for groceries and takeout from a local restaurant we are trying to support;
yes, I'm in the old fogie group...
That makes two of us. I take sensible precautions, wearing a mask when in the grocery store or other public places, etc. But like any good thing, one can go overboard. One day this, too, shall pass.

Use your dishwasher's 'glass cycle' rather than 'cookware' if you're concerned about the water resistance of your camera model.
Sounds like a great idea.

It’s amazing when you’re concentrating how many things you actually touch. Cabinet and drawer pulls, other handles. Car keys.... can’t be too careful. I’ll follow along to see what others do.
When I get to my car, I unlock the door with the key fob, open the door, make fists with both hands and awkwardly climb in without touching anything. I squirt a liberal amount of hand sanitizer on my hands. I scrub my hands, scrub the car keys well then put them in the ignition, and finish rubbing my hands until the sanitizer evaporates. Clean all groceries & anything else coming in the house [plus all door handles touched coming in] with a strong Clorox solution. Carefully wash both hands and face before doing anything else. I don't do anything special for the camera.

Diluted Dawn in warm water is a good way to clean the camera, inside and out.
makes so much more sense to run them through the dishwasher, making sure to put them on the top rack, and don't use heated dry!

My camera stays home, just like I do, except yesterday when we had more snow than all winter combined! I was near no one, but my camera got a little wet from the snow.
When I need groceries, I wear a mask and gloves and wipe down everything I touched in the car with Clorox wipes. I stopped wiping down my groceries since I read somewhere that isn’t necessary.
My shoes stay outside and I wash my hands surgeon style when I get home. My granddaughter, who lives with us, works at the grocery store. Her shoes live outside as well and she goes straight to the shower when she gets home.
I spend my quarantine time making masks so that when my husband gets home from the hospital, anyone around him will have a mask to wear. I’ve given them out to other family members as well. Maybe I should make a covering for my camera!

Your idea is a good one, and I practice it, but I prefer a Single Malt Scotch, such as Laphroaig, Tomatin, 12 year- old or Bunnahabhinn 10 year-old. MacAllan 12 year-old is wonderful, too!! all with just a very little cool water. Slainte magoch!!

Yes apply the alcohol from the inside to kill it. Much more effective that way. :)

Will this technique work on Nikon equipment?
