Sally, I love that 1st Horse image....it just gets my attention. It is a gorgeous Horse. For me, getting the shot is always my first priority. I leave my ISO to auto and take my chances with shutter & or aperture and concentrate on focus. Nice job
Hi Blair. I normally shoot aperture preferred and then-up the ISO as needed to maintain decent shutter speed. I typically never would have used this high ISO but it actually worked. And I often try to shoot wide open to get a shallow depth of field. This time I moved it down a bit and found it actually worked better. Thanks for your feed back.I really appreciate it.
These are wonderfully done. My favorites are the horses, especially the grey. They remind me of a western movie where the cowboys are trying to catch a majestic wild horse.
Thanks, Cooke! Is that a Jag? I owned an XKE for years.
I was born and grew up in the Yakima valley and spent many wonderful days on the reservation visiting friends and relatives there. Picking berries near Mt. Adams and camping out were particularly memorable. The wild horses were like phantoms and ran whenever we got near. I never thought of taking pictures then and though we had a camera in the family my mother took all the pictures. These photos are magnificent Sally. I also lived in Arizona for years and visited the Navajo reservation many times, I don't remember ever seeing a wild horse.

Hi Ratskinner. I was raised on a homestead near Vantage. When we drove to Portland, I always saw the horses but never realized they were wild. We almost hit one one the highway one night! All of that was way before Igot hooked on photography. In Arizona, the best place to see the horses is the Salt River not far from Mesa. Those horses are pretty desensitized. . .not so with the Yakama horses.
Nice set Sally - I’d probably pick the last one. Am curious what lens you used. We occasionally drive down to Goldendale to see my wife’s sister and we usually see them but feel like I need a helicopter to get out to them let alone with the lenses I have.
