I guess it depends upon what you call sanitary. Every jail and state prison I have worked, many years in each, has been cleaned every day, mostly numerous times per day by inmates who generally do a good job. With the virus upon us I suspect that inmates are out with disinfectant wipes or other cleaning agents doing their best with staff supervision to keep the area clean. I submit that the jails and prisons I have worked in are cleaner than the homes of many people.

Bob I can't agree more. The media is spreading the hype in its desire to constantly attack President Trump. Other Presidents have done similar things during epidemics yet they were never attacked as is Trump.

I also fully agree with you in that the government at numerous levels is doing what it can to take away freedoms by such things as closing gun stores in Illinois, limiting where people can go etc. I agree we are best to stay home and not catch or pass on the virus. But when governors are threatening jail time for those who are out and about without a somewhat valid reason (who makes that decision I wonder) then it is over the top regarding being ridiculous.

I cannot agree less.

Even Gov. Holcomb, who was Mike Pence's deputy before Pence was promoted, is doing this.
At age 72, I would do something similar even before the Governor mandated it.

No problem. Sorry if I sounded terse. I'm pretty angry about the way or governor has done this. Every day it is a new set of rules and every day she says that's it. Then the next day it's worse.

It's dictatorial it's one size fits all with the same rules for rural and metropolitan, and it's devoid of common sense in the way that it's written. Our county doesn't have a single case of covid-19, and we have lots of open spaces.

Now we can't get to the open spaces, which by her own admissions are the safest places to be except in my own house. Yet, marijuana dispensaries can stay open as long as they have a personal space manager and make sure that customers and workers stay at least six feet from each other.

So, it's ok to go buy pot, and it's ok to fish, but it's not ok to drive to fish. Does that make sense to you?

Our governor is an idiot. She encourages us to go outside and then makes it where if I go fishing I could get a fine for being outside. It is totally ridiculous.

I and a lot of people in Oregon have that opinion of her, BUT . . .
after thousands descended this weekend on the beaches for "spring break," I have to agree that there are more stupid people in Oregon than I thought. You just can't fix Stupid.

So you would jail someone who is taking a walk with friends outside their home? Is that what you are telling us? Hard to believe you think we should all submit to government interference in this day and age but there you are. I can understand suggesting that people stay home and not make unnecessary trips where there are crowds of people. But for a governor to order people to stay inside doesn't make much sense to me. I and my wife are staying inside because it is the prudent thing to do. Other friends are doing the very same thing. But yesterday I drove 10 miles to check up on someone whose wife died in February. He wanted some human contact. Then we went to a fast food restaurant to buy lunch and then back to his house to eat. Are you seriously telling me we should have been arrested? Why do you think the fast food places are open for take out food?

No. There is already too much government interference in our lives.

Walking outside is just fine as long as 'Social Distance' is maintained.

My wife and I purchased supper at "Wendy's" yesterday, then ate it at home.
Last Monday, just as the governor was issuing his rules, we purchased at "Arby's", then ate at home.

If you disagree with how your state is being run, you can respond the next time they hold state-wide elections,

I don't think it's the government. When Trump talks about opening thing up again, it is the medical people that are pushing back.

As for the press, they get rated by the number of "clicks" they get. I watched one of the press conferences beginning to end. Every network news misquoted what Trump said, what the doctors said and what the VP said. And they all used almost identical terms and phrases.

A neighbor of mine was out walking today. She said she had been put on 14 day quarantine by her doctor because she had spent time with a friend whose doctor tested positive. It wasn't the government who ordered this, it was their respective doctors. And the two women could have ignored the doctors orders and nobody would know the difference.

When I went to Walmart this morning while people were getting their carts one woman started yelling at people that they were too close to her. The woman actually appeared petrified.

Personally none of this has affected me other than the search for TP this morning. So maybe I am not grasping the whole picture. It's been known to happen, again and again and again ...

I suggest that history will look back on this as a mass hysteria with the flames fanned by the media. How else could it be viewed when it seems we have all lost all common sense. How can the normal person not react negatively when heads of states make decisions to do that which greatly impacts people's livelihoods and restricts their liberties and then imposes harsh penalties for non compliance. In my opinion what has been put in place is not reasonable and necessary at the state level. It just fuels the fires for more panic, helplessness and resentment whereas reasonable guidelines would have accomplished the same.

I don't mind if you don't agree with me however please maintain respect.

I try to be polite, but at age 72, I try to be careful of this very contagious virus.
I would probably take similar steps even if the state didn't require them.

I do respond/vote/ in every election. Surely you might agree that all politicians do NOT always come up with good ideas. Saying that the police will jail you or you will receive a citation valued at $1250.00 for walking with friends is not a good idea in my book.

Then vote for change .... and if the majority agrees with you ....

{I have a policy of not commenting on the policies in place in a state in which I do not live in, because I am not privy to how it is enforced in practice and to what the residents are actually told}

Many people are becoming totally unhinged above all else during this CoVid flu. I read this morning that thousands of other people have died from the normal everyday annual flu but that doesn't seem to bother anybody. After all that pretty much happens every year at flu season. But this pandemic has been over blown by politicians and the media to dangerous levels. I can't recall when people hoarded toilet paper, when there was film news of people in a fight over toilet paper in a supermarket. These are people who must fear everything because the media tells them to be afraid.

I am NOT saying there is no problem or there is nothing to fear. I AM saying that there are certainly other flu epidemics every year that so far have killed more than it appears will kill more people at least in America than the CoVid flu. We all need to be careful and take precautions to stay well and healthy. But there has been no need for the panic we are starting to see.

I do agree with you and am proud to admit it. Some politicians are using this panic to restrict free Americans.

I disagree.

I am proud of my Governor who is using his power to protect me.
129 Americans have died of this disease already today.

I only want to add one more thing to think about. The death rate is based on the reported, confirmed cases of the C-Virus. However since they aren't testing everyone with symptoms how do they know how many people actually have the virus. They don't. If it's 10 x or 100 x or somewhere in-between more than reported then that makes the death rate much lower. That is actually good news.
