New rules for Oregon

Sandwiched between two hotspot states, Washington and California, our state is instituting very rigid restrictions on movement out of our homes effective midnight tonight. While of course grocery stores, pharmacies, etc will remain open and you may go to those as needed all “non essential” travel is to be prohibited. Going for a walk with anyone who does not live in your household is a violation. All gatherings such as birthday parties, weddings or any social events whatsoever are prohibited. Violations will be treated as misdemeanors and can result in fines of up to $1250 and thirty days in jail.

While this is severe, I hope it is effective and not too late to have the desired effect. Having seen plenty of images in places like the beaches of Florida and California maybe it’s actually wise but I don’t know.

Citations are probably more effective.

So they are calling for the release of drug dealers and violent felons because they might get exposed to CV19 in jail.....And at the same time threatening to imprison people who are going for a walk in the park?????

PATHETIC!

There has been no indication current prisoners are being released. That’s not what the bulletin says. Out door walks are acceptable by oneself or with your household members. I seriously doubt that, being well familiar with policing habits in our state. Unless an individual receiving a warning seriously fails the “attitude test.” In actuality this will like serve as a stern warning. That would be the typical behavior LEO’s here.

I am not saying I like this or agree with all of it, just providing information if anyone’s interested.

Many jurisdictions are emptying the jails so putting congregating people in jail would literally be a revolving door.

Releasing current prisoners is nothing I mentioned nor being planned by the State.

Our governor is an idiot. She encourages us to go outside and then makes it where if I go fishing I could get a fine for being outside. It is totally ridiculous.

In NJ we have the State's Attorney General threatening to lock up and fine people who leave their home at the same time the Governor is releasing violent felons over concern about the corona virus.

It’s easy to ridicule these restrictions but the truth is that this pandemic is extremely severe and Oregon, so far, has avoided the worst.

Let us keep it that way!

Not ridiculing the restrictions (in general), just the conflicting counter-productive stupid ones.
