One more FedEx complaint. Ordered a lens from B&H last Wednesday. 2 day shipping. Sure enough on Friday it was on the FedEx truck out for delivery. Wonderful. It didn't come and they posted late afternoon that I had requested a later delivery (I didn't). Sure enough, Saturday morning it was on the truck out for delivery. Didn't get delivered. I started calling customer service. Got nowhere. Office was closed, so they couldn't contact anyone. Got to a supervisor who filed a complaint for me. Now shows scheduled for delivery Monday. Didn't come. They now show that they tried to deliver but no one was home to accept delivery. (No requirement for signature). I'm back on phone to customer service??? and they now tell me they will check it out and I will get a call that night. I got no call. This morning again listed as on truck out for delivery. I finally got a number for the local office but got shifted back to customer service???. Called back to local and got a promise of a call from Manager. She called back about 12:30, but said she really wasn't in charge of the drivers. She couldn't tell me who was or who I could complain to. She did keep me on hold for about 30 minutes & finally assured my the package would be delivered today.
Lo and behold, the package was delivered at 1:08 p.m. Driver wasted no time getting away before I could talk to him/her.
BTW, the lens is great. Sharp pictures. Looks brand new. Thanks to B&H, but from now on when ordering online, I will know who they will ship with before I place the order. Second problem with FedEx and don't have the patience or enough blood pressure medicine for any more of them.
One more FedEx complaint. Ordered a lens from B&a... (show quote)

That is why I don't order from B&H anymore. I also had problems with FEDEX and their lies.

I experienced an issue yesterday as my Fujifilm X-pro3 was delivered after getting warranty repair. FedEx sent me numerous updates indicating that someone would need to be home to sign for the package. Well, the package was delivered on the date promised but the driver didn't hang around for a signature. He just rang the doorbell and ran. The package was significantly damaged but intact. Luckily, the Fujifilm repair folks did a great job of packing the camera body in a very dense bed of peanuts so no damage. Just saying...

Interesting to read all the neg comments about FedEx. My problems have been with UPS. I can't use them for delivery to my customers because I pay extra for Delivery Signature for all packages over $100 in value. UPS drops off packages at the front door or garage door and runs. No signature, no proof of delivery. And definitely can't use them where people live in apartments or multi-residence buildings.

I use a nearby UPS store for my business mailing addresses. No problem with that. They receive my incoming packages, usually without any problems. (I did have to change locations when an employee at a different UPS store read the value of postage/insurance paid for some shipments and stole at least $800 of customer returned merchandise.)

But B&H only uses FedEx.

Not true. They use a variety of shippers, at their discretion. You CAN ask for a specific shipper, and it could cost you more.

I was told this by them after complaining about an Airborne shipment from NJ to central NY that sat in Ohio for a week before transferring to USPS.

FedEx truly sucks.I had a lens I was going to sell to MPB. They only use FedEx as well. Scheduled a pick up
date, waited all day, they never showed. I called FedEx. The jerk that answered the phone, first of all, I could not understand, due to accent, then he would not help unless I supplied him with a confirmation number. I told him, I did not have the number since MPB arranged the pick up. I had the tracking number but he said that was not good enough. I had the bar code number, that was not good enough as well. Then I asked for the terminal's phone number in my area, and he would not supply that as well. Told him to shove it. Decided to keep the lens instead of going through all the BS with them. Now I truly know why I have a UPS account.
Never again with FedEx.

It's a mentality factor in these type of jobs.
It's a Push, Push, Push to make the deliveries! It's a Push, Push, Push to make the daily quotas!
Push faster, for my stock value!

Rumor is that FedEx and UPS are planning to merge. The merged company will be called "FedUp"

When placing an order with us you can usually select FedEx or UPS or USPS, depending on the item you ordered and the destination. The downside is you may lose the free shipping option.

Late last year I received a bid from B&H to buy my older Sigma lens. It was shipped via their defined FED EX process. New box, packed double walled, 2 inch bubble insulation wrapped around the lens, PLUS several inches of crunched paper throughout. It arrive damaged. B&H said they did not want it. After 5 hours on the phone arguing with their Customer Service, they begrudgingly agreed to file a damage claim with FED EX. 7 weeks, 20 or 30 phones calls, as many emails, I finally received a pathic 1/2 of their original original offer. AND that was from B&H. FED EX would assume NO liability. I took the offer AND no longer do business with either organization.

Did you really need the lens in two days after ordering? So long it hasn't been lost, it will arrive eventually. I could never understand how people can be so impatient. If I know I absolutely need something by a certain date, I always order way ahead of time. When it comes to deliveries, you just never know for sure when it actually arrives. Bad weather, trucks breaking down, drivers calling out sick, too many packages out for delivery - their are many things that may cause delay.

Actually, not impatient, he was simply trying to get to the bottom of why it wasn't being delivered as per the string of incorrect notifications. One or two botched/missed deliveries are "okay" but multiple miscommunications and missed deliveries is not okay. I would be on the phone with them as well.

Maybe buy from your local photo store. Lesson learned!.

Not sure how many folks are in the same boat as me but its a 90 mile drive to the nearest "local" camera store if you don't count Best buy or Costco.

I found out thru a KEH buying promotion that a former Wolf Camera store is open under a different name about 30 miles from me. I had gone there a few times when they were still the old Wolf store but their prices were a bit high...

Thanks for participating in this conversation Henry,

When I last placed an order I was told that my only option was FedEx so this is new information.

More importantly, I would suggest that you consider negotiating a contract for deliveries with a different company. Although none of the delivery services do a fantastic job, here in Chicago I would rate them as follows:
1. UPS
2. USPS
3. FedEx
