My choice is to spend three or four hours in heavy Seattle freeway traffic consuming about $20 in gas for a good camera store or buy from B&H.
Personally I would choose option 1. I much rather buy from a local store.

Trust me, I wish I had a local camera store besides Best Buy. The closest real camera store for me closed decades ago. The closest one now is between 30 and 50 miles away.

First off - I sure have missed MtShooter's postings - 1,000 miles was too far for me to travel to his store - It is a 1 1/2 - 2 hour 70+ mile drive to the 2 brick and mortar stores in Sacramento so I don't get into them. I have been using the internet to do my photography supply shopping for the past 15 yrs - used to use Reed's in the SF Bay area when I started serious photography 25 yrs ago. Dang I miss those B&M stores and knowledgeable personnel.
I wondered why MTShooter was posting images on UHH he had taken around the country recently. I guessed he was taking a vacation road trip. Now we know the reason. I had his store on my "must visit" places for when I ventured up that way. Now, I'll never get to meet him. I thought he would be a good person to meet and know. C'est la vie!
Mr T Mine is several hours from me. We lost two different one in the last few years. Both went out due to The Big Ones In NY not charging tax on big items. The field is a little more level
MT Shooter is a great person. I had the opportunity to meet him in person, at the time he told me he was going to retire and i knew he was going to be a great loss for us. I wish him the peace and love he deserves.
MT Shooter (Carter) announced several months ago on UHH that he was going to retire and try to sell his store. Guess he could not find a buyer. MT is a great guy, he always helped me out when I was in a jam. Bought several items from his store and had zero problems.
Have a great retirement Carter!!
Don
Hope he still hangs around UHH.

Why did you cancel? No sense of adventure?

Probably due to Coronavirus as many are cancelling travel?

So I stopped at BB after I saw that Carter had closed shop. BB doesn’t sell Tamron or carry sensor swabs. So I ordered from BH and it will be here in a week or so.
Thank you. I'm glad we could help out.
Collectively, three major economic forces have had an even bigger impact on brick-and-mortar retail than the internet has.

Too bad someone didn't buy the store to keep it going.
If it was a viable proposition, someone would have. The store closure was one of the many unfortunate results of "progress".
