The loss of a great local camera store

Today I found out that the owner of the Camera Cottage in Billings Mt had retired and closed the store just recently. Carter, who is known here as MTShooter ran one of the very few camera store in the area and did an outstanding job of it.He was always interesting to talk to and his store will be missed by all of the local photographers in the area. This is another change to adapt to and order more online. I needed some sensor swabs and had a strong desire for a new lens today. So I stopped at BB after I saw that Carter had closed shop. BB doesn’t sell Tamron or carry sensor swabs. So I ordered from BH and it will be here in a week or so.

Yes, ours is lacking in the accessory dept, but all the sales people I've met are competent.

I have been to Carter's store and it was a great place and will be missed by many I am sure. But have to wish him a happy retirement. I think he has lots of travel plans

I got to know him on UHH and miss him. Now that he has retired he'll spend more time on with us and giving us pointers etc.

T'is the wrong time for travel. We just canceled a MAJOR trip to Rome, followed by a cruise from Rome to Barcelona to Lisbon (and ports in between) and to the Caribbean. I was really looking forward to that one.

Same here. I stop at my local store first. If they don't have what I need, B and H is my next choice.

Best Buy will order Tamron lenses. I got one from them in two days. They offer great customer service.
