I refuse to walk around/"carry" a camera with a strap - very dangerous and always getting in the way ! So, I carry my camera in my hands/when in use or I holster it in a protective carry/case strapped to my body. I do have one quick disconnect neck strap for tethering for when I need to use both hands quickly for some reason when in use and for saftey.

Another vote for Peak Design Slide. My only issue was that, when worn cross-shoulder sling style, the lens wants to point straight out to your side. But you can get an "anchor mount" from them to attach one end to the tripod socket. It then hangs lens down. And I love how it supports Nikkor 200-500 f5.6 at my side when attached to the inverted lens collar. I can steady the rig with my hand on the collar while walking, then pull it up to shooting position with the same hand.

I use a Black Rapids shoulder strap. I've recently become dissatisfied with how it attaches to the tripod socket. Any recommendations of a strap( other than the provided neck strap) would be appreciated. I want one that hooks to the neck strap lugs. If I had access to a sewing machine , I could easily adapt my current sling.

I use an OP/Tec camera/binocular harness w/elastic straps - tight to your body and easy to use on tripod while still attached to the harness.

I did get a couple of their "anchor mounts" and attached to the tripod mounts on my cameras. For each camera I have "anchors" on both strap mounting points as well as on the tripod anchor mount (3 anchors total). With any of my Canon DSLRs I can attach to the two main strap points if I'm using a smaller lens, then switch one of them to the bottom anchor point if I have a larger lens mounted (that's when I generally have an issue with the lens not pointing down).

I too use Peak Design. The connectors are easy to attach, and detach. Depending on your age, and gender, you might be familiar with the type of connections. It is just like a garter belt connection. :-D.

Op tech USA, and because I'm paranoid, the binocular model (no quick disconnects).

I use the quick connects so the same is on all 3 of my cameras - Canon Rebels Xt , Xti & T3i - I also fave their 2 camera harness with the wide yoke for caring 2 cameras - the Xti with with a tamron 18-200 and the T3i set up for sound video clips with a kit 18-55 or just the comfort of the larger yoke one a long day photo trip.

OpTech USA Two Canon's and use both top/bottom with grip. Top is the main one and bottom a back up just in case.
