I don't know why some have all kinds of issues, and some (I'm guessing a lot of us) don't. Of course, who ever posts "Yay, another successful update?" You only hear when someone has an issue...

I sure hope you get it fixed, and hope my computer doesn't catch whatever yours has.

Same here, never an issue with auto updates!

Do you think the "Much smaller list of available applications" and the much smaller number of features contributes to the lessened stability?
There is also a much much larger selection of hardware with drivers written by many small companies. No one would compare Unix to Windows 10. Look at the number of people on the hog that copy a file or get a USB device to work. I'm done!

Your first statement may be backwards? BTW- I'm not running hundreds of applications. If they were available, I'd run them on Unix. I don't believe the volume of applications has anything to do with Window's instability. Does Roots Magic run on Unix?

Larger selection of hardware and drivers for WHAT? How does copying files or USBs come into play?

Good, you're confusing me.

The fix on the internet was not clear or easy.
Very frustrating Microsoft! Every time a problem

I have an older HP Dv7 laptop that came with Vista. I upgraded to Win 7, and then Win 10 when it came out. All went well until I tried to turn it off last week. Said "update and restart". So I said okay...and that was the end of a working laptop!
Repair said it was like a fully loaded semi being pulled with a 4 cylinder engine...just couldn't handle it. So now I have a very nice looking brick for a laptop!

Funny! A perfect example of irony.

Roll the laptop back to the previous version (recover point).

The last two Windows 10 updates have apparently deleted all or some printer related files. My printer doesn’t show up in my Device Manager, even after reinstalling the driver and utilities. I like to access the printer preferences through the Device Manager rather than use the printer’s front panel but can’t do that now. Tried to Install a new printer but the Device Manager couldn’t find the printer. The odd thing is, I can print to that printer from any application and access the printer preferences from the Print dialog. Haven’t found a solution on-line yet. I’m not a geek, just an application user, so when the system operations go haywire I’m a bit lost.

I suspect that some of these problems are with those who got the free Win 10 upgrade on a Win 7 machine. My current Dell came with Win 10 and I’ve never had an update issue. I’ve never had to do it but I don’t think it’s very difficult to roll back to the previous update and stick with that or try another update again.

Windows 7 is no longer supported by Microsoft, as of 01-14-20, which has passed. It will still work. But, Microsoft won't provide security and updates. I have a laptop that is stored away with Windows 7. A friend told me that you can still get Windows 10 for free, from Windows 7. The laptop I use is an updated Windows 10. I didn't like Windows 10 at first, but have grown to like it now. My Lenovo laptop is 7 years old now. The one stored away is 10 years old, when Windows 7 came out. I want a laptop with SSD and more RAM. I could purchase a SSD and more RAM, and update my current laptop? But, I'm worried about complete compatibility to my system.

I upgraded to Win 10 from Win 7 from the git go and have never had a problem, I do mean the very first day it came out on the internet. I have never had a problem with updates and have updated every time an update comes out, that includes my PC and laptop.

I’ve heard about that too, no problems with updates. So no I’m wondering that the brand of PC might be an issue, or a power surge/drop during the update, maybe even a broadband glitch during the process. Lots of mechanical issues to be considered.

That's interesting. I've done every update regularly, including the latest, two days ago on all three of my computers with no adverse effects. I wonder why the difference? I have had better luck with Windows 10 over any other OS they've introduced. I'm a MS 'Insider' and have worked with '10' since it's introduction.

I've never had a problem with an update. But you can't go backwards and then retry or stay backwards turn off your updates.
