Interesting experiment. My question has to do with the time exposed. I have found that adding a ND filter usually lengthens the exposure time, so why are the clouds not moving in the first photo, but have lots of movement in the second one, without the filter. The first shot is great.

Really very nice photos, Colin64. I'm partial to #1, but appreciate the look of #2 also.

The blueish one is the long exposure.

Cheers folks for taking the time to comment, l much prefer the 1st one as well, l do like long exposures but they need a specific scene to work l think, sea scapes with clouds coming directly towards or behind work well, black & white pp also suits these scenes.
Again thanks for comments, it's nice to experiment.......cheers..👍

These shots are of Lagavulin bay, one with a lee 10 stop Nd which gives of the blueish tint l know you can get rid of it, but it suits (l think) some scenes, the other is a normal exposure both are pp to taste......which one do you prefer...

I like the first one

I am a big fan of long exposures and I like #2. The rocks are blue because the only light hitting them is the blue light reflecting from the clouds. It appears the sun has set and you are in the "blue hour" which accounts for the color of the clouds. If you don't like the blue cast simply change the white balance a bit and warm the image.
