now i'm beating a dead horse,, a while back i started a post about this sony 350 and the troubles i was starting to have with it,, well decided to stay with it a little longer ,, maybe it was me not giving it a fair sake,, right,, well yesterday,, this happened,, the battery door flipped open and bented now it has a crack that will allow water in get inside the latch must either be to weak or to small and easy to open , never did that happen to the olympus, . it was in my pants just like i always keep a pocket camera, (my olympus 16 always was there and its a good 1/3 size bigger). this never happened to it not one time,, now i have to worry about moisture getting into the battery/ flash drive if it gets any amount of rain or splash from any moisture. looks like i just lost 300.00 dollars,, i send it in and get what i can for it when i get it back and say a dios , goooood bye,,, ssoooo longgg, gettt out out of hereeee... what a cheap camera,, just bought in july ,, and all this happens,, zoom, bad, battery won't take a full charge, lens cover now not fully opening or closing,, ... it will never last out in the feild,, where i go,, what a piece of crap !!!!

kept it as long as i could to give it a more than fair test,, but just look at all that happened in the very short time,, the olympus 16, has gone offshore so many times , even in storms that most people wouldn't even think about getting out in,, out to west texas in full dust storms, and the lens cover stopped working at 7 and a 1/2 yrs .. the way the sony did in 6 months!.. the oly, never opened its battery door ,,never not one time,, and even though it was only a 24 zoom it was always clear to almost clear ,,,if i did my part,, i even put the sony on a tripod,,still shots fuzzy couldn't take it anymore.. done ..

You certainly have the right iconic name BubbleHead. You obviously abuse your camera, probably lean on something that bends the front of the camera and now wonder why it won't open. I bet that if you send it in under warranty, they will decline it due to physical damage. Don't blame Sony for your mistakes.

Geez. Some people should not be allowed to own sensitive equipment.

hmm.. looks like there are some dents in the lens cover contraption that would interfere with it closing properly, and clearly some scuff marks around the batter closure...

... you sure you didn't take a fall with this thing in your pocket?

Clearly it's not rugged enough for whatever you put it through: doesn't look like the device simply failed on its own. Maybe get something that can handle a bit more abuse next time.

It makes Finnegan’s Wake or Gravity’s Rainbow read like See Dick Run. 😜🤪

Those leaves over the lens sticking are a rather common problem, unfortunately. What's even worse is if they don't open completely.

It looks to me to be sheer abuse and negligence on your part. A place I do consulting from time to time has two of these the field guys use when needed. They are working perfectly. These guys aren't photographers. They are not especially careful with the equipment either. Neither of the cameras exhibit the damage you've perpetrated on yours.

i am very hard on my cameras, that's why i love the olympus so much its bigger, probably by a 1/3. i have had it since 2003 and i took the pictures of the sony with it,, problem with the olympus is that very early or late shots were starting to get a little off. i climb with the cameras , montana, colorado, hunting, take it off shore,, i never stated it was going to be a prom queen,, that's why i look so hard for a camera i thought would give me the toughness and quality,, i expected from name brand cameras...the "i beat the heck out of the camera, jab,, ok,, like i said if the olympus could handle it since 2003,, i'd expect the sony to do it for at least the 1st year. wouldn't,, but then sounds like you ride around in a car and take pictures out of the windows, or in the back yard,,, i don't. never had,, i am hard on everything... what i was looking for on this web sight was some insight as to a good type of pocket camera that could take the punishment of being in a pocket while climbing, offshore,. by the way, yes , i write a lot, i think there are some people here that could help me but ???
