The Z50 specs seem great for someone shooting APS-C. Wonderful ergonomics too.

I love my D5600 and have all the lenses I need for it. The ergonomics are similar to the Z6 (touch screen) except for front wheel and it probably weighs less than Z50 plus adapter. Although the two new lenses for it look good.

It probably does much better at high ISO than my D5600.

Did you read the second line of my post? I was real serious about that.

I don’t know if it’s a case of gas, seeing the writing on the wall, or both. I’m seriously looking into getting a Z6. I’ll keep my D750, at least for now, for sports shooting.
Thanks for your comments,

Dana, I just finished listening to Steve Perry's podcast (voice only) address this question. His take is that absent a specific, compelling reason(s) for an individual's photographic concentration, it is still early to consider a wholesale switch to mirror less.

I have purchased a Z6 last December and it’s the best thing I did. I have Nikon bodies and lenses from the year of the flood but the Z6 has been the best thing I purchased in a long time. Love the new lenses for this camera and I also love the electronic viewfinder. Some of you may not agree, but I think this viewfinder is the best thing since sliced bread.

Go for it and you will not regret the purchase.

Too late. I ordered one a few hours ago. But thanks.

Well, I bit the bullet and bought one today. It’ll be here on Tuesday. I can’t wait.

I could be wrong, but your replies seem to infer that I was serious.

I want to know if anyone has gone from a D750 to a Z6, and if so what your thoughts are on the switch. I have the $, so that is not a factor. I will be selling my D7200 equipment, though, as it will only collect dust with the addition of the Z6.

Thanks for your comments,
Dana

I tried to use it but had to go back to the D750. I shoot almost exclusively with a Tamron 28-300 lens because I cannot carry a variety of lenses around with me as I travel or go on excursions in the mountains ---hiking, rafting, snowmobiling, fishing etc. Multiple lenses are not practical for me to carry and get thru airpot security etc.

Even with the adapter the Tammy lens did not work properly in low light situations and was erratic in other cases as well. Tamron basically told me (in broken English) that they don't support that lens and will not do so in the future. They were generally very unhelpful, offered no suggestions and appeared completely uninterested.

I then went with the Nikkor 18-300 lens and it was far too heavy to even consider carrying around---and cost about $850. On the small Z6 body it was terribly front heavy, and cumbersome. Most of the pictures were fine and I really like the touch screen feature and some of the in camera processing but I had some concern with low light focusing capability.

The small size of the camera made some of the buttons inconvenient--for example, I had to disable the function buttons cuz I kept hitting them by accident. Also, as I would carry the camera some of the settings would change due to inadvertently hitting my body. The lock function compensated for that but is an irritation. Overall, it seemed to be a very nice camera with some exciting features but I will stick with the D750 as the pix seemed, for the most part, to be comparable----tho I did not keep the camera long enough to give it a fair trial. So, overall, I think Nikon has some more work to do to improve some of the Z6 shortcomings.

The new D780 seems like a solution for me if the Tamron lens is compatible.

Congratulations on your new camera. Did you purchase a lens or just the camera body?

Let us know what you think of the camera after you had a chance to handle it. Always like to hear someone else’s experience.

Also check the firmware, there have been a couple of revisions, most likely the camera will have an older one. It’s easy to update, download the firmware to your computer and copy the file the card, you can copy directly to the card but I like to have it on my computer first. Then insert the card into the camera and go to the software version on the camera menu for the update icon.

I only purchased the lens and adapter as I have a nice assortment of lenses already.
