Glad your neighbor is okay, but I will say when you have trees that close to your house you should be more aware of the condition of the tress, I see a lot of dead wood in that tree, meaning it is in bad shape and should have been removed a good while ago.
I have three that will taken out this winter, I hate to lose the little shade they give, but rather lose the shade than the roof or have someone hurt.
Fate has a way of getting in the road. First, we live in the Chattahoochie National Forest. There are trees galore, my first year we had 5, five.........forest fires within a 30 mile radius at the same time. The bears tend to be problematic as they are smart enough to know when it's trash pickup.......
So, some difficulties go with the territory...........that said, he was aware of the condition of the tree but the cheapest quote he received for its removal was $5'000!! I had to pay $1'000 for the removal of a much smaller one......believe me, that cuts into the budget bigtime
