I've done that a few times. I had a 240GB SSD as my OS drive. I wanted additional space, bought a 1 TB Samsung EVO SSD and installed it in place of the 240 GB one. I've also recovered backups a few times. Works like a charm. I've been using Acronis for 15+ years. "Would not leave home without it". Their tech support is also excellent.

Mark, I recently used Acronis to clone a HDD into a SSD and it also worked like a charm. I now use Acronis for my backups

Hoping you can answer this question for me. Does a full backup in Acronis include the OS and applications? In other words, if my system drive crashed and had to be replaced, for example, could I use the full backup to restore my entire system, or would I have to re-install the OS and applications?

Absolutely! Providing the backup is of the "system drive". I've done it a few times. You should create a rescue media file on a flash drive. If your OS becomes corrupt, you will not be able to boot to the backup file. The Rescue Media will allow you to to that. Open Acronis. Click on "Tools"/"Rescue Media Builder". You'll need a blank flash drive.
Keep it in a safe place.

Mark - I love Acronis. In addition to backing up, I cloned a new SSD hard drive for my desktop, and it couldn't have been easier. Used the software, popped the old HD out, and put the new one - booted right up, and everything was where it was supposed to be.

You could search for that. $119 per year.

Thanks, Mark! That’s great to hear! I will now create Rescue Media. I purchased a 3 user license of Acronis, and have now installed it on my wife’s laptop and daughter’s laptop. It’s a great product.

My pleasure. Acronis provides security and peace of mind.

I think that the Amazon Photos cloud app is awful. It's very hard to manage. It's confusing. It's really slow to see what photos I've got in their cloud. It's very difficult to manage.

It backed up some but not all my photos. Some of the CR2's were backed up in some folders, and not others. I can't figure out how to get it to pick back up where it left off. It backed up pics all the way up to my 2014 photos, but nothing beyond that. Strange. It won't let me drag multiple folders to upload. They sync feature is confusing and I don't want it to back itself up to my own PC. I want them backed up to their cloud. No biggie since I have multiple hard drives that are easy to sync and backup and restore, but I wanted one more form of protection and Amazon Photos isn't it.

Take a look at Amazon S3. Not free, but works like a conventional drive and there are 3 levels with different prices depending on your needs.

Just curious. If you upload a photo of your dog, your cruise trip, or your car and then go to facebook; do you get dog food ads, cruise discounts, or links to car accessories? I wonder what Amazon does with all the personal info you freely give them.

Laws require them to tell you all about that subject in what's usually called "Terms and Conditions" which should be on the Web site. I would send a private message to "admin" asking for a link to the T&C. The only downside is that it might take you a week to read it. If necessary use your computer's text search function within the document. Best of luck.

Amazon has a section called "Terms of Use" …….. After looking thru there (Yes its pages long) I Still don't see anything that indicated any concern on my part. Of course it's not entirely in plain English, (ie; you almost need to be an attorney to truly understand it)
