If you are asking of the cameras Have now it would be my 5D IV and if you are asking for all time it would be the 5DIV as it is then technology of today. Why, because the camera is a tool to an end MAKING A PICTURE. So why use a lesser tool.
My answer and my reason.

A take off on the question "Your Favorite Camera" You can only have one camera, you can all the lenses you want to go with that camera. Money is no problem. Remember this camera is the only one you can have for the rest of your life. Something happens to the camera, no replacement.

What is the problem?
The OP amply asked the question which camera would one chose to use exclusively for the rest of one’s life.
Contribute if you want, but don’t make it more complicated with profound and unwarranted analysis.

Right on!

Amazed a the nit picking so many hogs employ in an answer.

True, the OP didn't explicitly ask a question, but he did reference the previous post that did. It seemed quite clear to me that the implied question was, "what camera would you choose?

4x5 view camera.
No batteries needed.
Can coat glass with homemade emulsion so if film disappears it is still useable.
Shutter is the lens cap.

I think I have it: My Nikon D850 (I'm 84, so the technology advances of the future aren't an issue).

Due to the nature of photography, and the photographers on this forum, I believe this to be a mental exercise only. How many would be satisfied with just one camera?
Not many, I bet.
Some (me) even have duplicate bodies and lenses.
Lays Potato Chip Syndrome, can't eat (or have) just one.

I am satisfied with only 1 camera but the OP condition not to replace it if it breaks is not acceptable to me. How can you pick a camera that you are sure won't break during your life time?

YES Kmgw9v

Come on folks, just have fun with it.
My gosh!

Based somewhat on my limited 5 years of experience with my D5200, and more on what I'e heard and read: the D850!

I just sold all my Canon stuff, including the 80D, and went for a Sony A7ii with two lenses. At 84+, I'm considering this to be my last camera. Don't need to lug around all that metal and plastic any longer. I've got thousands of pics I could alway go back into and mess with......I'll just enjoy what I've got and a few extras I may shoot with this 24-245 tele. and the little 18-50 for close stuff and a wide angle now and then.
This time of life is about letting go of "stuff" (sold my antique Winchesters, quit caring about the NFL, soon will go through the hundreds of books taking up space) and being open to what's new. Yeah, this will DO. Life is enough.
