Your photos are not ending up in your photos folder instead of Lightroom are they?

Hmm, if I understood the question, then no, I am able to import photos from my Mac photo library into Lightoom, without issues. The difficulty comes in resizing them .

I don't know what Apple does in their App Store. Adobe has Lightroom Classic, Lightroom (cloud), Lightroom Web, Lightroom iOS and Lightroom Android. I'm now guessing you got Lightroom iOS which is really a phone app. That's based on your saying you paid for it as a one time purchase. It will be useless for what you want to do.

“Useless” pretty much sums it up, Bill! I think you must be right. I’ll back out, try another way to do this, and then see if I can get my money back — or at least stop the bleeding. Thanks to you, and to all, for their help.

Jim

Regardless of what you've gotten, or whether it will meet your needs, Lightroom, even the simpler CC version is not something you can just jump in and use effectively with no learning curse. The learning curve for Lightroom classic is quite extensive. If your intention is to just use it once, you will have to expend a significant amount of effort learning how it works for that one event. Depending on what you goal is, and you familiarity with raw processors, it could take you many many hours of training and practice. The Adobe Book on Lightroom, which covers all its functionality, had around 800-900 pages. It took me about a year and hundreds of hours to master Lightroom. While no one has to learn all the features as I did, it should give you an idea of the complexity of the software. Hardly worth the effort for a one time use..

Since you have a Mac you have Apple's Photo software for free. It should do what you want.

If your image is already processed and all you want is to resize it Apple Preview can do that.

I agree - go into your Appleid account and cancel your Lightroom subscription.

Help! I just got Lightroom (version? Dunno, whatever The App Store was flogging for my Mac) and cannot get it to work, at all, at all. Only reason I have it is to enter a local Arts Center contest, which requires a specific pixel count. Have searched the Web, lotsa tutorials out there, all of which start with “Lightroom will open in Library....” — which it DOESEN’T. Please help save my sanity.

You could avoid this confusion by going back to the App Store and getting Graphic Converter. It’s $40.00 OR (better) go to

https://www.lemkesoft.de/en/products/graphicconverter/download/ and get the shareware trial version.

Graphic Converter has been around since the early 1990s (I’ve used it since 1995) and is a real gem. It will batch process your files to resize them however you wish. That’s just one of dozens and dozens of its features. Even though I have Lightroom Classic and Photoshop, I still use Graphic Converter on occasion. It’s ALWAYS on my Macs.

If you have a Best Buy near by, you might think about going there and visiting with the Geek Squad. It costs for a membership, but for me it has been worth it. I try to figure things out before taking it there, so when they tell me how to do something it makes sense. Can see where my approach was wrong. Am having a problem with wetmark copywrite presently and if I can't solve the problem, I'll go there in the next few days. Can put them on with each image, but have days of work at this pace. Give it a thought.

Brillant, BocaMac; best idea so far, especially since it allows for all the other suggestions to come into play. It’s a bit of a drive, but I think worth the trip; thanks.
