He was fighting so that his ancestors would be treated equally, so are the NFL players.

Well, actually, it would not be his ancestors that he fights for. They are all dead and beyond any treatment. It would be his descendants that he would be worried about. But Kapernick is full of BS anyway, he complains about treatment. Look at Ferguson. The criminal hoodlum assaulted a white officer, broke his face, and was coming back to do more harm when he was shot. So, how was that racist? Not... Is that who Kapernick is fighting for???

Kapernick's "problem" is one that many black people encounter. Certainly, not every death at the hands of the police is criminal; but the statistical evidence shows that blacks are treated far differently than white suspects; and there is tremendous evidence that shows that shootings of blacks by white police officers who feel "threatened" enough to fire on those black suspects needs to be addressed. Far too many of those shootings end up with the finding that the suspects were never even armed. It has nothing to do with people complaining about not getting ahead in the world and blaming others. And NONE of this has anything to do with the original posting. Some of this sounds like nothing more than misinformation, and there is a hell of a lot of that going on in the US right now, and a lot of it is coming from Trump, himself. Read this article carefully, and start paying attention. Because a lot of you answering this post obviously do not do much of that.

I agree with the sentiment. However, I believe that he was fighting for his DESCENDENTS (not ancestors).

"I am not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of color,” Kaepernick told NFL Mediaafter Friday’s game.

“To me, this is bigger than football and it would be selfish on my part to look the other way. There are bodies in the street and people getting paid leave and getting away with murder.”

So you got hatred out of that. Ok.

No G. Not hatred. Just a completely false narrative that attributes racism and violence against black people to an easy non-accountable target. And unfortunately most people are either uninformed or willing to point to 'others' in order to avoid taking responsibility themselves to correct problems that do exist. What did K actually do to help? Did he start any initiatives to go into black communities to help with the housing and education of children? Did he try to address the much higher incidence of black on black violence and murder? Did he look to hold accountable the politicians who actually represent these districts throughout the country who actually do nothing? In fact, these politicians are the problem because it is in their interest to keep the inner-city populations under-educated, low income, and angry so that they (people of color+) depend upon these same politicians to provide the free services that they need to live. Who will inner-city voters vote for? The same people who are actually responsible for their plight. And these same people are the ones shouting 'racist' against those that are actually trying to bring about positive changes. People are racist. Not our country. Not only is our flag a banner of freedom; it is and does represent the ability for all Americans to pursue their dreams. People get in the way. It is easier to blame someone else for the failure of others. And these 'others' are not the people of color who suffer; but the people who are loudest in casting blame.

So where will you go when the next Democrat comes in and takes back the country from white racists like you? Russia is nice this time of year. They are probably as far out right as you are. Like you Putin believes there is no room for dissent.
I’ll help you pack.
Good luck, don’t let the door hit you on the way out

You don't know me. And, what did I say that you don't agree with here? Maybe you can actually address what I have said, instead of calling me a racist. No where do I say dissent is not acceptable. And just because someone says something that you may not agree with does not mean that it is racist. Casting blame without offering solutions is the easy way out. Now, instead of you casting out hate...let's hear some solutions to our problems. Dissent is a cornerstone of our country. Non-constructive dissent is a coward's way of casting blame. I don't know you either, but I am willing to engage if something positive could possibly result.

Reading this drivel I’m reminded of that mid 1970s song by Jerry Jeff Walker, “ Up Against The Wall You Redneck Mother”.

It absolutely is.
But libs seem to forget what really happened as usual.
They rewrite history instantly as it suits them.

Yeah...how come those Hollywood "stars" who threatened to emigrate to Canada if Trump were elected are still here spouting their vitriolic poison? Talk about hypocrisy...

One of the very LAST newspapers I would ever credit with reporting the news as it really occurs, is the NYT. As is illustrated by their headlines of last week being changed by demands of their readers as it didn't make Trump look "bad" enough. Which begs the question: Who is really writing the news and from what perspective? It was our belief when we studied the Constitution in junior high that the First Amendment was written to ensure that We the People would be informed by journalists of what was truly occurring in our country and the rest of the world. It was disconcerting to find that what we considered journalism was nothing more than, to quote John Fowles, "Writers wish to create worlds as real as, but other than the world that is."
