Another vote for one of the Sony RX100 series, which I often carry with a case in my front jeans pocket.
My case is a "Megagear" since I have a "Lensmate" filter adapter attached. Other cases are to small.

Would try to find a Leica C Type 112. Awesome little P&S. Prices are all over the board but can be found in the $600-800 range. Compact, classy looking, lightweight, sleek, and 200mm zoom. Excellent Leica glass.

Agree with insman1132. I oun the Panasonic Lumix DC-ZS70 and has a Leica lens with a very long reach; 24-720 MM. (fantastic print quality). A little too big to be pocketable but you can buy for a few bucks a case that will allow you to belt loop it.

Great - lots of suggestions and good information. I believe, given the depth of my pockets, both figuratively and literally, the Panasonic series are looking good. Thank you to all who contributed, I appreciate your views..Larry

Recently I lost the use of my Nikon E5600. I used it for at least getting the shot when I didn't have my larger Nikons. I need something smaller so I can put it in my pocket. I would like to get one with a view finder. I find it very difficult to get the composition I want by just using the LED screen. I tried to use the Nikon W300 but, without the viewfinder, I found it difficult to use, Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Larry

Sony HX99V. Nothing else comes close.

I have 2 recommendations - I started digital with Panasonic Lumix FZ 3 and moved up to FZ 7 before my first DSLR then missing the range of the bridge camera I bought a Canon SX30 both these cameras were excellent- had view finders and the Canon SX is small and great for your use Ya there are many out there and but so many don't have that view finder for proper composition.

I love the X100F from Fuji for this and significantly more shooting situations.

Consider the Panasonic Lumix brand, high quality lens.

PH Rubin and I both agree on our Panasonic ZS100. I bought it specifically because of the viewfinder, but now love it for so many other features it has. It fits easily into a jacket pocket. It comes with a wrist strap but I put a strap on it that conveniently hangs cross body on my hip. 25mm to 250mm. Full manual, shoots raw if you like to.

And the ZS100 is on sale for just about $500
