A few days ago I started a topic asking for feedback on my plans to get a smaller travel camera. I was leaning toward the Sony a6400. I had seen the reviews and the camera also felt good in my hands. I loved its small size.

The response to my request for suggestions and first hand experiences was great. In the end, I went ahead with the Sony even though there were several other good cameras suggested. The Sony just felt right for me.

Since Sony does not send a manual and I am a Nikon user, I have relied on a lot of videos to try to get started with the camera. These were suggested in responses to my post and they are really good. I am also using Sony's online guide. It is still challenging and I am leaving on a trip on Thursday. I changed the camera to raw and aperture priority but haven't done much else so far. I'm attaching a few shots from my yard and also a nearby park. My first impression of the camera is great. The quality of the pictures is comparable to what I have been getting with my DSLRs and it is a dream to hold and carry!

Thank you, Jack. I'm not a cell phone photographer and I really wanted a small, light camera that would take high quality raw photos. This little camera does just that. I don't plan to abandon my DSLRs but there are times when they are just too much.

I see you are in central Florida. Sanford Camera Club has a meeting tonight (24th) in downtown Sanford at the Welcome Center, starting at 6:30. The topic is Shooting Flowers, presenting by a wonderful photographer, Julie Lee, former president of the Orlando Camera Club, and a great presenter. You are more than welcome to visit as a guest. Reg Garner is the president. You will find the group welcoming and each meeting informative.

Cullmijt, thank you for the invite. That was very thoughtful. I will definitely be there. I'm a member and I was really excited when I found out the topic would be flower photography. I've never met Julie but I looked at her website. She is good! I live in Orange City and go to the Gateway Camera Club in DeBary, too.

The images look great Carol. Seems like the youtube videos are working for you!

I recently picked up a Sony RX100 because of it's size. While I love the image quality, the Sony menu system drives me crazy, and to a longtime Nikon user it seems totally counter-intuitive.

Carol, this set is awesome and you had very little experience with the camera. Imagine what you will get when you know the funtions of the camera.

It looks as if you’ve done well with the new guy. I purchased a 6000 in December and am learning to love it.

Awesome! See you there! I’ve been on a couple of photo shoots with Julie. You will enjoy her spin on flower photography. I have a Sony a6000 I’ve been enjoying for the last year, but have my eyes on either the Canon RP or the Sony a7iii... it’s a hard call since I have so much Canon gear already...but I think Sony is a few steps ahead of canon in the mirrorless world.

Carol - you might want to check out the Facebook group for Sony A-series users. You will see shots that you never thought possible with kit lenses. I've learned a lot in that group in just a few short weeks.

Great shots, by the way!!
