While in Iceland, we explored and photographed ice caves. We had to hike into the glacier wearing crampons and helmets, carrying our camera backpacks and tripods. Inside was wet, slippery ice and pools of water - was not too comfortable. Took photos for about 15 minutes and was out of there.

Thanks Nikonian, once was enough for me - I guess I am a little claustrophobic. This was one of the larger caves. The next one was half this size.

Neat pictures I myself love things like this not to much on caving but am an avid mine shaft (ADIT or Drift)my wife and I went back into a mine shaft about 3/4 of a mile it gets a bit close but the things that were left behind when they closed the mine are really neat. Picks, Gold Pans , track to roll the ore carts out on and many other things one would not believe.Your shot of the view out of an ice cave is real nice. Post some more if you would as time goes along.

Wow, good for you!! I wouldn't even think of going down a mine shaft. I kind of got in the ice caves, took photos and got out as fast as I could. Ice was melting everywhere and the guide said he would close them in two days time because of the rate they were deteriorating. These caves are MILES from anything and if something happened......... I'm a rather be safe than sorry type of person.
