I know nothing about "Ios Angeles", but Los Angeles has hundreds of points of interest, from the funicular downtown, to the Santa Monica Pier, to the La Brea Tar Pits (Page Museum), to Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach, to the Walt Disney Concert Hall, to the Griffith Observatory, etc., etc. How much time you got?

Take one of those bust= tours.... Then for the ones you want you know where to go...
For those going to Key West, take the Conch train.. Shows EVERY "see" spot on the island...

Santa Monica Pier is a classic place for night photos of the amusement park.

Hermosa Beach, a few miles south of LAX has a very active surfing and volleyball community - good for action shots. Also, the numerous piers provide many good photo opportunities.

I have taken the liberty of attaching a couple of photos of the Hermosa Pier I took over Thanksgiving.

Good luck!

Abby

the getty museum, off frwy for architecture and gardens or the one in santa monica the getty villa, both very different, you could do santa monica pier and getty villa in one day.
disney concert hall downtown, the street lamps on wilshire at night next to art museum, olivera street for a taste of mexico also near train station downtown, t.s. very art nouveau, the huntington museum in pasadena but not on the 1st or 2nd this month due to traffic from parade
those should keep you busy for a few days, how long ae you here for ?

Growing up in Los Angeles, I could list hundreds of locations, but my fellow Hoggers have done a great job so far. Though let us not forget Olivera Street, the last remnant of Old Los Angeles. If you really want the "street feel" of "The City of Angels", take your lens to the garment district or for a walk down Sunset. Either way I have always thought of L.A. as one big photo-op. Enjoy!

Check out Pixtus it is a regional site, much like how Craigslist is separated by region/Metropolis...

They always have huge threads on photo op sites/locations

Don't forget Mulholland Drive...a very scenic mountain-top drive where you can get a birds-eye view of LA and see the Hollywood sign. Several stopping points along the way.

If you are into architecture you might consider a walking tour.

The Getty Center and the Getty Villa are also amazing
http://www.getty.edu/

Of course there is also;
Downtown Los Angeles
- The Bradbury Building, City Hall (26th floor observatory), The Biltmore, The Bonaventure, the Central Library, skid row, flower district (early am), the garment district, farmers market, Angels Flight Railway, etc.
Rodeo Drive
Olvera Street and Union Station
Griifth Park and the Observatory
Huntington Library
Santa Monica Pier

Too many things to cover, but maybe this will help http://www.discoverlosangeles.com
