Thank you. The Swinging Bridge area (actually it no longer "swings") is a terrific place to photograph so many of the cliffs and waterfalls. On a cumulus cloud day it can be a sea of tripods....

Welcome! Love your pictures especially the bird. I'm not sure but it might be one of the great tailed grackles. They live in that area. The surround for it is so dainty - makes a great contrast.

I'm not a huge fan of altering photos too much. I think good high resolution images should stand on their own, so I'm not too fond of HDR. That's my personal opinion though. A lot of people like outlandish and extreme modifications to pictures and that's ok too. I just think it distracts from the beauty of good photography. I usually only do a minimal amount of corrections to my pictures to make details stand out and to correct and enhance the colors, but I do so as sparingly as I can so that I can achieve the original feel of a photo when I first saw and shot it...

I've posted a shot that I think illustrates what I'm trying to say. I have nothing against your photos, they show great composition and a good eye...

This is my first posting and I selected several pictures as a sampling of my favorite subjects, Yosemite, birds, and landscapes. I have a Canon Rebel T1i and I enjoy experimenting with HDR. I have enjoyed reading the various critiques of the members of the Ugly Hedgehog and I welcome your opinions and suggestions. I have so much to learn.....

Early Frost....

Hmmm, that sounds more like a putdown than a welcome.

my apologies, I never meant to offend and was only offering my personal opinion. Everyone here has their own thoughts and opinions about what constitutes good photos and that's fine. I wanted to express my opinions about HDR altered photos and thought that it would be OK to say what I thought about them. I'll stay out of this conversation if my opinions are upsetting and please, by all means, you have every right to say so. You also have the right to be proud of your photos and how you treat them.
