I have an idea...Since so many people are killed in cars, maybe we need to ban the use of cars.

Hope the link works.

Well it didn't. Just copy and paste.

States permitting concealed carry are the lowest in violent crime.
States that do not allow citizens to protect themselves are the highest in violent crime.

Seems perfectly logical to me. If a criminal might encounter a 230 grain ball cruising at him at 900 feet per second he might be more likely to nbehave himself.

Should he know there is zero opportunity for his victim to defend himself it is open season on victims.

Make mine a Detonics Combat Master 45 Acp please. With a Detecive special in 38 +P+ back up.

That was an astonishngly stupid comment to make. Just because a deranged NFL player did this...does that make it any more tragic? and Bob Costas (who I respect as a sports announcer) is using this as a call for gun control. That's like saying if James Dean didn't have a Porsche, he would be alive today or if Ted Kennedy didn't have his Oldsmobile, Mary Jo would be alive today.

Sounds like we are all in agreement...But wait. There'll be others. Some don't think that you and I have a right to defend ourselves and our families, and don't realize that if you take guns away from us, the bad guys will still have them.

what he said was dumb but he has the right to exercise that dumbness and to verbally express that dumbness. I see some on this very forum exercising the exact same rights...

Very well put wrr. You expressed your dumbness like everyone else here and rightly so.

"If he hadn't owned a gun" - maybe he would have used something else.

You are right Wrr, and I don't think anyone has implied on the thread that he doesn't have the right to state his opinion. 8-)

Speaking of gun control what ever happened to that case down in Florida regarding the kid who was shot dead? Scratch that, should be a new thread I guess. Sorry. :|

It is so very comforting to have that small piece of artillery safely tucked in it's hid-out when one is surprised and kidnapped by a gun pointing jerk - mine "Was a White"- yes as the investigating officer said when another ask why I did not shoot him when he accosted me instead of waiting so long?- Quick draw is not always the best option if you want to survive.
Gun control - I'm all for it - just enforce the current laws and let the honest people keep theirs
As Bruce states in his post - this is what has recently happened in Australia - violent crime is way "UP"
