A full and enjoyable day: Morning in Pisa, afternoon in Lucca. From Viking: “Tuscany is known equally as the cradle of the Renaissance and a center of culinary delights and astounding wines. Throughout this emerald-green countryside dotted with cypress trees, endless delights unfold. Among them is Florence, a living museum of the Renaissance. Brunelleschi’s famous Duomo dominates the medieval cityscape—an architectural achievement. Another Tuscan treasure, the Square of Miracles, unfolds in Pisa. Here, a trinity of masterpieces—the Leaning Tower, Pisa Cathedral and Baptistery—comprise some of Europe’s finest art and architecture.”

We took a coach to Pisa, about a 30 minute drive from the port of Livorno, where we also spent that night. This is the only port where we stayed overnight in our 15 days on the ship.

I took the last 3 photos in July 1973 on our 11 week trip all over Europe. Note that I climbed to the top of the leaning tower for photos 8 and 9; 49 years later I didn’t think I had the knees for that.

My next post will conclude our visit to Pisa and start our tour of Lucca. My previous post can be found at https://www.uglyhedgehog.com/t-802752-1.html, while the first post of this series can be found at https://www.uglyhedgehog.com/t-801137-1.html
A full and enjoyable day: Morning in Pisa, afterno... (show quote)
