I bet many of you have already seen "Unstoppable," with Denzel Washington and Chris Pine. It's about a runaway freight train, and it's definitely a "tense" movie. I watched it again because the guy on one of the model train channels I watch received a custom-made model of the chase locomotive, and now he had all three locos. He did a reenactment of moments of the chase using his train layout.

You can watch it for free on YouTube. There are about half a dozen posted on YT. The one I watched had no commercials. The alternative was to sign up for a streaming trial - with commercials.

Because it is going to crash. That has happened quite a few times, and the engineers lived to tell about it. Why would people jump out of a plane - for fun? 😁

I was referring to the engineer " yard Jockey " who started the entire fiasco.... I have never gotten out of my rolling car to pick up something ?

Right! What an idiot! He didn't think he had to connect the air brakes.

Actually, there was a major train fire and crash because the engineer didn't apply all the brakes when he left the engine running overnight.

Good movie. We have watched it , I think, 3 times… 2 for sure.

As a rule, we like anything with Denzel Washington in it… maybe Training Day was an exception to that… just over the top with language

Jerry et al!

Another movie with a similar plot is the 1985 movie Runaway Train starring a young Jon Voight, Eric Roberts and Rebecca DeMornay. The plot involves a hardened convict and a younger prisoner escape from a brutal prison in the middle of winter only to find themselves on an out-of-control train with a female railway worker while being pursued by the vengeful head of security. The locale is Alaska! This film received very favorable reviews and is based on a screenplay originally written in 1960 by Akira Kurosawa.

This film is currently streaming for free on Plutotv.com: https://pluto.tv/en/on-demand/movies/5ee00797f50163001ad10a84?utm_medium=deeplink&utm_source=justwatch

Be well! Ed

Parts of that movie were filmed within a half hour's drive from my home. Some of the characters and production staff stayed in a local hotel in my town.

Wasn't he the bad guy in training day? Some actors specify that they will not play the bad guy.

Another good one is "Runaway Train," with Jon Voight - not as good, though.
