I am no lawyer but I haven't heard anyone sued Nikon or Tamron for not repairing gray market cameras. Also I don't know if there is a law that requires a manufacturer to repair what they sell either. I know Fluke doesn't repair certain model of their digital multimeters. If it breaks within the warranty period they exchange for a new one. After the warranty period you just have to buy another.
