A silly thread. Don't give a toot who buys what nor how many.

The camera makers care for sure, even if you dont. And UHHers should care if their brand does well enough in this shrinking camera market to stay in business to be around for parts and repairs of what you use now. It all matters.

Interesting, but why should I have any interest in what the people in Japan, or anywhere else for that matter, are buying. I have been more than happy with my Nikons, F Photomic, F3 and on up to the D500. Alas they are all SLRs and since I refuse to put a large dent in my retirement account and "upgrade" my stable of Nikon equipment to mirrorless I will have to be content with producing subpar images no matter how proficient I may become.

You want your fav brand to do well enough to stay in business in this shrinking camera market, to be around for parts and repairs for what you have now. It does matter.

But my newest camera is more than 10 years old now and discontinued the manufacturers don't support it any more. So it doesn't matter at all. I have all the lenses and accessories I want and there are plenty on the used market. I would want people to dumb the cameras I want.

Yes, Sony's menu system has been a bit arcane, but it's getting better. My a6500 was an improvement over the a6000, and who knows, if I upgrade again (I've been looking at the a6700, waiting for a good deal somewhere), there might be even more improvements awaiting...

The Sony menus are fine now.

Folks coming from longtime use of other brands have a small learning curve, but according to my dealer and what I see in my Facebook photography groups I administer, it seems first time shooters starting with Sony as their first cameras dont have any issues.

Use what you have and be happy.

My fellow pros are sadly finding it hard to get parts and repairs for their older models of all brands, and it is forcing them to upgrade to more current models. Used to be there was 5-10 years of parts inventory, not anymore at all, as you are aware.

Wow! Why so much defensive venom that this post elicited? I think itโ€™s an interesting post that shows trends of a market sector. I appreciate this post for a perspective, but imho, the nasty defensive comments from certain people is unwarranted. I do not see my camera on the list, but then I have always considered myself to be a rugged individualist so I am not unnerved by the fact that my choice did not make the most frequent purchases list. Does not warrant a diatribe regarding whether I am a photographer or a gear head with GAS, although that is exactly what I am. ๐Ÿ˜‚ I guess that those in need of external validation is real.
