Actually while I don't feel good about it I will buy it. I would not subscribe to Amazon Prime (besides Amazon doesn't have the item any way). I do understand that it cost money to ship and $9.99 for shipping isn't out of line. Just that the item I wanted to buy is only $8.75.

Look online to find the manufacturer of the hood. They may give you a lower than retail price. Also, you may be able to find some other vendor who will ship you one in a padded bag via snail mail and without insurance.

Nikon is the manufacturer and they don't have it any more. They did give me free pc sync port cover years ago.

For outgoing shipments, try "Pirate Ship" at https://www.pirateship.com/. Better prices for shipping than UPS, Fedex, USPS.

Ok I think I have to buy from KEH. I went to the local store today and they have a bunch of used lens hoods. I found 3 that are close but not correct. They are for the 105mm and not my 85mm. They would fit but could cause vignetting besides they don't look right.
