What I'm really impressed with, is that the gulls look like they are really flying. They are not in one plane, you altered the sizes and the orientations to make them look very real. I don't know enough about the other aspects that you explained to have anything worthwhile to say about it. For some reason, that I can't put a finger on, it does not have a really high "wow" factor for me. I like the image and I can appreciate the work it took. It just is not one of my favorites. Sorry about that.

Thanks for your comments Erich. The gull are photographed from above, which helps here I think. I was on a cliff with them whizzing around below. I understand the lack of ‘wow’, it has the same effect on me! It is, for other reasons very pleasing to have done though and gives me hope of achieving other things I have in mind. The effort put into this one has taught me stuff I haven’t found elsewhere and which I shall hopefully be able to develope further. But there’s always something else to learn, isn’t there? How did your book go, did you get it completed?

I finished the "book" this year. The far more important achievement is that one of my students also finished her book. For a student to take on such a project, that is outside of their school requirements and something that they don't get any "credit" for, always amazes and pleases me. This year several students attempted the challenge. Within a week, all but two had decided it was a bit more than they could handle. Of the two students that persevered, one finished and the other student, who has the additional challenge of managing autism, was able to get to 9000 words and is still working. Bravo to both of them. They both get a T-shirt this year. I also make sure that the winners of the challenge get recognition at a Board of Education meeting. Every meeting of our board has an agenda item reserved for student awards. I think it is nice to give students public recognition for school achievements.

That's excellent Erich, and very encouraging for the two that persevered. Well Done to you all!

Thanks. I guess these are the kind of kids that keep me teaching after 42 years.
