Very nice of you to say, Dave, but both finances and my aging brain suggest there won't be any changes

Well I know that feeling Linda - just been told by Adobe they’ll be swiping £120 from me next month. That’s a year of the Photography Ps/Lr/etc progs. Each time I have to think hard about which button to press instead of going there automatically I wonder if I’ll get my moneys worth!

The cow and the background are originally a single silhouette shot, taken by the roadside on Dartmoor. I wanted to pop the farmer character in but the cow needed moving along a bit. Remembering what Fstop told us a while back about his use of Generative Fill in Ps, I used the Select Subject tool and copied the cow to its own layer. Turned that layer off, drew a selection around the cow loosely with the Lasso Tool, and told Generative Fill to do its worst - presto!, cow disappears and a bit of grass pops up where she was. Turned the copied cow layer back on, selected the Move Tool and, using the left arrow on the keyboard, moved her along to where I wanted her. Then I brought in the farmer already cut-out), attached a Curves layer to him, grabbed the top right corner of the curve line and pulled it straight to the Bottom. Job Done. Hope you find it of interest.

Thanks for your telling the makeup of your composition.Very well done! The farmer looks like he's had a very long day and just wants to go home for dinner. Thanks for your description of your artistic process!

I really like your outcome! Also, it's nice to know that sometimes, someone actually pays attention to what I say. LOL. As far as your comment about " Mastering AI", I dare say you've only taken one step on the path inside the magical forest. Hold on tight for the sun is just starting to rise on this facisnating Technology.

Whilst I agree about AI being in its infancy, I think controlling it is going to be a nightmare ride! I don’t mean in our small field but across the board. For my purposes I’m not interested in the full potential, I want to do the image creating rather than become the ‘author’ of an instruction, if you see what I mean. The way Ps uses it at present suits me and takes some of the laborious tasks away whilst leaving me in control. That is not to criticise its use in entire image production, it’s simply horses for courses. Glad you like the image. Thanks for your help in getting there!

Have you noticed the area created by Generative fill not being as sharp as the rest of the area? I'm hoping this will improve over time. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xCDxEakiXoU

No, can’t say I have - but I’ve only used it a couple of times, plus expand a couple of times. Perhaps I didn’t look closely enough, I’ll watch for it now! Thanks.

The composite is really good, and the elements all work together. Your explanation was very interesting for those of us who are just learning the art of compositing. The only thing, and I stress that this is probably just me, is that I question why you would have wanted complete silhouettes in this image. It seems to me that the image would work better and be more convincing if we could see some detail in the figures. Like I said, probably just me.

The original shot of the cow and background (all one shot) I saw as a silhouette, liked it, took it, and added to it - in all honesty, it never occurred to me to do it any other way Erich! My wife says that’s my problem, I only see things my way!!

I think, in this case, your wife underestimates your abilities. From the work you've done lately with ICM, you seem to be exploring many avenues of creative expression.
