Yes, about where the angled brown line converges with the foreground tree....

Sounds about right.

With this one I decided to simply use the ICM element as a background for a composite with a view to creating an overall effect not unlike a pastel drawing. You can decide whether that's what it looks like. The ICM result gives a sort of half-predictable effect. You know the direction of movement will be fairly obvious but, by adding more movement in a different direction, or of a different type, within the same shutter opening period, the result seems to get a little less predictable. Maybe with more experience I'll find it easier. Here, I combined two ICM shots for the background, used different Blend Modes for each and backed the the lower layer with a solid colour layer. That got rid of any burned-out whites. Your critique would be helpful if you have the time, and is appreciated. I should add that you've seen the figure previously, it was just handy to re-use her in this experiment.

Marvelous, mesmerizing result, Dave. Add my praise (and thanks for the simple-to-follow tips) to all the others!

Ah, we had that discussion on one of my other ICM composites - Intentional Camera Movement. Lazy, I am!

Thanks Linda. Youā€™re on your own now with it - canā€™t wait to see where it leads. We could start a serious trend here - did you say thereā€™s a separate section for ICM on UHH? šŸ˜Š

Probably I forgot already. I'm used to explained methods and not terms for photographic or processing techniques. I guess ICM is like Zone System, you just have to know what it is. On various groups I'm in there are a few that members know: GBH (Great Blue Heron), TWC (Treeing Walker Coonhound), AFH (American Foxhound), ASA / ISO / DIN (film or camera exposure speed), GAS (Gear Aquisition Syndrom), AI Artificial Intelligence), etc, etc. You don't want to know the ones used in Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry, Botany, and Zoology that I use.

I am reading and chuckling imagining a large group of people taking ICM photos all zipping their cameras up and down... like Chickens bob their heads while walking all in unison.

I recall going thru old family photo ... my mother was ahead of her time... her technique was UCM, Unintentional Camera Movement.

Oh yes, we sorted UCM on one of my previous ICM posts Don! Longshadow came to the rescue on that occasion.
