I have been told both B & H and Adorama sell Grey Market cameras?? Is that correct?? And if it is, and they do sell them, and Grey Market is so bad, why would those two great camera stores sell Grey???

...so people can get the same camera for less money, even though they take a chance that they won't be able to get it repaired. I'm sure that Abe's of Maine sells thousands of cameras every year - lower prices but with a questionable warranty.

Same camera hardware. Not the same firmware. This means not necessarily the same functionality. And not the same accessories. Of course with some famous sellers, no accessories at all.

Although...I do wonder whether it's possible to load current US firmware...

From what I have heard, there's a good possibility that firmware updates will not load, but that can vary by camera.

I think we need to be careful that what we print on this site is fact, not some rumor we might have heard. I own 3 Nikon Camera's I bought Grey. They all have the same firmware as any Nikon purchased in the USA. I can, and have, downloaded all firmware updates with no problems directly from the Nikon Website. I saved approx. 28% on each purchase. They all have Serial Numbers.

Most warranty companies will tell you, if you do some research on their websites, that new cameras have less than a 2% rate of return for covered warranty repairs in the first year. That is all major brands.

It would be interesting to hear from some other members that have bought Grey. Would love to know their experiences and it would give some balance to this subject that seems to appear all too often in threads that were started asking about something that had nothing to do with Grey Market cameras in the first place.
