In which country where the camera prices are lowest? I've been to China, Vietnam, Germany, France, and none have better prices than in the USA. In Japan some models are priced lower but not by much.

Not to mention the term Grey Market. If you need a Grey Market camera fixed, you need to go back where you got it.

So the question is where these gray market good come from? Don't they have to come from a country where the price is less than the USA?

I hope you are asking out of curiosity. A gray market camera is made in the same factory where genuine imports are made but the difference comes, a has been said, when it needs repairs. I have seen Nikon make an exception but do not trust your luck on this one.
When I visited Hong Kong, prior to the presence of China, it was very cheap compared to US prices to buy a Nikon there from a non authorized dealer. A friend of mine bought one that was not working right. I took him to a nearby Nikon repair station and he was so lucky that they repaired the camera for him at no charge. It was a Nikon alright but it was assembled there without any kind of adjustments. All parts he was told were original.

Do not expect it will happen here with a gray market camera.

Bebu..

In response to your question, I can tell you that in the last 10 weeks my wife and I have been cruising the area of the Baltic, and Norway, Iceland, The Areas of Spain, France, Italy, Greece, Turkey, and throughout this region....

As a current owner of 5 different models, see can on cameras switch off in the can. An ecosystem... I have never found a price. Anywhere is cheapest in the United States.

Cheers

I know all about warranty and repair for gray market. My question is that for which country the gray market was intended to be sold? It has to be in a country where the camera makers decided for whatever reason selling for less than what they sell in the USA. I've been to Hong Kong in 2018 and the prices weren't less than here in the US.

A few years ago, my wife and I were in Tokyo. I had heard about an area within the city that was an electronics Mecca including cameras. I spent the better part of 3-4 hrs roaming the shops and came away with the conclusion as many here. The most competitive pricing is here, the USA. No contest.

It’s been nearly 50 years since I purchased my “Canon” movie projector while in the city of the City ofSibiu Bay, Philippines. I only wish now, that I would have had more money to have purchased a new 35 mm Canon.

Yokosuka, Japan was a great place to buy sound and photographic equipment.

Well Billnikon said it's cheaper in South Africa and I have never been there so I don't know. So far I haven't been to any country where prices are better than the USA yet they said the gray market cameras were bought from countries where they sell cheaper than the USA so I have to wonder where would that be?

Well remember the retail seller does not pay the selling price in either culture. But warranties and after sale service are an alien concept except the USA and European countries. The cost of that even for reliable products is nontrivial and certainly included in the price. And don’t forget that the retail price is highly dependent on the market in that country.

It could be the case that Nikon is doing us a favor by keeping their costs down. But that is unlikely since price is not a big driver in the market for cameras we might buy.

You have to consider shipping cost and customs fees. I think $800 is the point at which fees are applied, and they can be substantial.

The point is this. The gray market goods are those which are not intended for the USA market they are meant to be sold in some other countries. I wonder which countries are those?

If you want gray market equipment for less, you can get it here in the USA.
