If Sony ever come out with a camera that triggers my GAS I'd probably want the 20-70mm f/4. IMO having more at the wide end is more useful than having more at the long end.

The 28-60 kit lens is perfect for this camera, small, light, and sharp, and relatively inexpensive. As has been stated, the Sigma 45, or the Sony 40 are also good. Going with a 24-70 2.8 makes no sense to me, as they are monsters in size and weight. Why get a light travel friendly camera and attach a brick to it?

Sony 24-105mm f4 G OSS lens for sure. Super versatile, sharp, fast and quiet autofocus, OSS. It is Sony's #1 selling fullframe E-mount lens in the world, and for good reasons.

It is the most used of my current 13 E-mount lenses covering 10mm to 600mm from Sony, Sigma, Tamron, Viltrox . I have owned Sony A6500, A7RII, A7RIII, A7III, A9, A7RIV, and currently own A1, A7RV, A7SIII.

Here is a Sony 24-105mm f4 G OSS shot that was chosen as a Worldwide Photo of the Week by Sony Alpha Photographers in 2021. Environmental Scientist Brooke Hildebrand in a slot canyon near Upper Antelope Canyon, Navajo Lands, Page, Arizona, USA. Sony A9 camera, Sony 24-105mm f4 G OSS lens, 24mm, ISO 400, f4, 1/30 sec., handheld, all natural sunlight in the canyon.

Cheers and best to you.

I love my 70 to 300 because when hiking, it gives me close to a normal lens and a decent telephoto but the real plus is it’s close focus. I can take pictures from flowers to wildlife with the one lens. I carry the small 35/2.8 Zeiss if the 70 is not wide enough.

You may find this video by Mark Gahler of interest. It’s an in depth review of the new a7c cameras, and has lens and kit suggestions. My personal preference would be light weight primes. The Sony 24mm f2.8 G, 40 f2.5 and 50f2.5 are perfect for the a7c2. Also, the older Sony-Zeiss 35 f2.8. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5iq3Mn85LNk

It depends on where I will be. In general, either 35 or 40mm, rarely 28mm. When I don’t think I can get close I prefer 50 or 75mm. All are prime.

I don’t uses zoom lens until I need to go over 150mm but that’s no longer just “walking around “.
