The background is really nice and the subtle framing works well also. Of course the subject steals the show, as it should.

Thank you Erich, pleased you like it.

I enjoyed your image very much. I might have tried feathering the sharp edge of the image into the matt area to give a softer transition. Overall, very creative.

There are a few folk finding the ‘frame’ difficult to live with - it’s just a texture layer, the image background extends all the way to the outer edges. In the end I think it’s just personal taste, I would probably opt not to have it at all if I was printing it. Thanks for your thoughts on it, they help me.

Than you for the explanation, I hoped you would look in. I attach a shot that may help identification. Pleased you like it!

I don't like it. I love it.
If fact, I love it just the way you posted it to begin with.
Looking at the head, body shape and roached mane and foretop, I'd venture to say that American Saddlebred is the breed and for sure that gait is a trot. Any horse lover would love that photo. Meant to say, beautiful lady at the whip.

Thank you so much for all your explanations. You certainly are a master in my mind. I keep reading but am still too much of a novice to “play with the big boys”. Actually I don’t play much anyway as I’m still assiduously trying to get better at real world stuff. But I love to read about it and absorb it for the future.

And yes, I like the oval better.

Thanks again, I knew the subject would give me a head start! And yes, that lady certainly drew some attention!

The thing to remember Ellen is it’s all for fun. It doesn’t really matter if it’s not perfect as long as you enjoy making it. Don’t hold back too long, just ‘have a go’. If you get stuck there’s always help at hand in this section.
