Now I feel left out. It didn't work for me. Total came to 2022, BUT it will equal 2023 after my birthday next month. Whew!!

When you read it, it sounds plausible. It's like the trick I used to pull on friends I worked with. I told them that I bet that we could check the birth dates of thirty people and before we were finished we would find two who had the same birthday. It worked every time.

This is a probability calculation not a trick. In a group of thirty random people there’s a 70% chance that two of them will share the same date and month of birth.

I'm not sure what the percentage is, but when you add the chances up, it by the time you get to the 30th person, the 30th person has 29 chances to match. The 29th person had 28 chances. Add up all the chances for a match from the 1st person, which is 0 to the 2nd person, which is 1 chance all the way to #30, and you've got a lot of chances. I added them up once and the total chances for a match are more than the chance not to match.

I tried it and it worked for me! (I was born in 1936 and my age is 87 = 2023)!

This is just simple math. It is the same for every year. Once in a thousand years is nonsense.

Tell me, though, you did the math before you made your pronouncement. Before that you never thought of it. The person who put it out there for all to see just tied a pretty bow on it to make it sparkle.

One tidbit forgotten. The age in years, for it to work, has to be that the birth date is before today's date this year. If the birth day is yet to come, it will come as 2022.

And it will stay "2023" until the eve of your birth date next year.
