Until recently I have always opened in the main photography discussion but now I get a list of everything that has changed in any of my selected interest. Is there a way to go back to the old way?

Stop using the digest and instead log into the https://www.uglyhedgehog.com/ site directly...
Or, click the <home> button where the Main Discussion is the top entry.

I haven’t used ‘the digest’ in years {literally}; everything I’m interested is right here.

I've never used The Digest, for that reason.
And I don't miss stuff that didn't make it to The Digest.

As often as you reply with this or something similar to similar topics on this tiny change made to the UHH site, you must have this copied to F6...press it once and your reply spits out without the need for even one more keystroke.

I have come to like the new format. The way I work it now is I open the Digest in my email. From there I click on "Newest Pictures" and go through the first 12 pages of photos. I'll click on any photo that looks interesting to me but there aren't that many.
After that I will click on "Home" in the upper left which will list the sections I subscribe to. Then I go to the General Chit-Chat section and check out any posts that I haven't already seen, avoiding any post that is only a link to something else. I will then quickly check a few of the sections I subscribe to (Trains, Panoramas, Landscape, Black and White Photography, and a couple others) to see if there is anything new. Usually there isn't anything new.
This new procedure has cut way down on the amount of time I spend on UHH - which is a good thing.
After that I will click on "Home" in the upper left which will list the sections I subscribe to.
