Taking things a little too far I suppose.

Congratulations on adding a four-legged Big Boy to your others. I wish you an easy road ahead in your retirement and please give Lionel a scratch behind his ears from me. He looks like a great boy.
Thanks! Will do. so far, so good with both. I put the one Big Boy away until Christmas time. This is the only time I get to set up and run my Lionel trains.
Lionel--that's perfect for you!
Welcome to retirement and to a wonderful hobby.

Well, I suppose it will be nice. Now I get to do some deferred maintenance on my garden railroad and perhaps work on my H.O. layout which has been setting idle for a couple of years now.
Congrats! Both of your new acquisitions will keep you from getting bored with all the « free time » on your hands.

Lovely shot of Lionel and the train Tom, enjoy your retirement to the fullest.
I've replied previously, but another comment, I believe from Sylvias, brought your post back up for me. I just finished watching an episode of Antiques Roadshow that had one of the segments featuring a fellow who had a Lionel locomotive from the 1930's that was valued at $2,500. That reminded me of the MasterCard commercials that would feature the cost of something such as an airplane ticket home, say $1,200 but would end with a tagline such as "getting to spend Christmas with the family--'priceless' " Or having a collection of vintage Lionel track, cars, locomotives and accessories, who knows how much, but having a German Shepherd pup, named Lionel to play with and love--'priceless'. I hope he is doing well.

Haven't been on for quite some time. Just working hard and thinking about retirement. Well, I decided to do the retirement bit. October 1st was my last official day. So... as a retirement gift to myself, I bought a brand new Rail King Imperial 4-8-8-4 Union Pacific Big Boy #4014. I earned it. It arrived on October 2nd. Yay.
However, My wife and daughters decided to give me a gift which arrived on October 1st also. It is a barely 4 month old German Shepard puppy. Swell. It would have been nice if I could have rested a few months before such an undertaking. Oh, well.
Oh... Being a hardcore model railroader, what do you think I named him? But Lionel of course! I'm an idiot.
Haven't been on for quite some time. Just working... (

Lionel has periodic sales at their warehouse (Charlotte, NC.) It is always elbow-to-elbow people, but a good way to get their products at a reasonable price.
