Using today's solar panels, you would need to cover your roof, backyard and front yard with panels. Even then, it would not be a viable was to charge an ev. For the foreseeable future we will rely on coal powered electric to support the grid.

Really? So increased nuclear power reactors and more efficient use of rods after removal from reactors is not in the foreseeable future? France can provide a little insight if one checks. We generate approx 20% of our power via nuclear reactors, while France generates about 80%. Why the disparity? Yes, there are many reasons, but our domestic oil production is quite finite and that is one of the reasons for our foreign purchases despite our being the biggest producer in the world.

So you are suggesting that we not speak of price reductions due to the fact that some still lack affordability. Gas prices and inflation are hot button topics and we are quick to speak of increased prices, so reductions deserve some "air time" as well, particularly when it has long been a political pissing contest.

We need a little positive stuff!

We're not flaunting reduced prices on after-dinner mints in Bangladesh!

No that’s not what I am saying or implying. Gloating about gas price reduction in a political manner as it’s done quite often with Denny is what is insensitive to those that have been hurt for the last 2.5 years since gas prices started rising dramatically. I like the fact that gas prices are reducing but I just can’t float about it till it’s low enough for the poor to afford it.

I disagree, but that's life in the fast lane, I guess. It's hardly gloating, so maybe any remarks about decreasing prices on anything should be avoided so as to not be insensitive. The Attic is well know for being quite sensitive and there is never a desire to be anything other than PC.

Yes, but I am specifically addressing the effects of gas prices on the poor and lower middle class who may have difficulty affording gas at the prices that they have been the last 2.5 years. Many could barely afford the prices even before that. The total accumulation of the rise in gas prices have out some in serious debt and will be that way for a long time for many. Yes lower gas prices now is a good thing for many, it still unaffordable for many others. So some gloating about a .20-.30 reduction appears insensitive to the pain of those that are suffering.
Yes, but I am specifically addressing the effects ... (show quote)

Yes, individuals are suffering; unfortunately in our great nation, there are always the poor who suffer. The rate hikes and other inflation reducing policies are put in place to cool down the consumer spending that is going on and give low income earners some relief. Until recently, that cooling hasn't happened as much as needed, but it's headed in the right direction. Would you want the inflation to keep climbing which would hurt the poor even more? That's the two choices; you have to pick one. That does not mean that I don't feel empathy for the poor; I once was in their shoes and I help out wherever I can now.

Go to any Walmart, Buccees, etc. and you'll see spending on discretionary goods; not just food and gas.

Inflation is an issue to be tackled at the global and macro federal monetary policies. My state and local agencies are upping their services to the poor. Childcare is one of the biggest costs for low-income people. That cost has increased dramatically and in more need of assistance than gas.

It only applies if you don't open up individual messages.

Never been there! Scheduled a vacation there, but my "charge d affaires" directed our efforts back to Yellowstone.

Gotta know when to hold'em and when to fold'em .

I stopped opening those received from some caricatures after a particular gutless schmuck sent a couple fairly obscene messages. A real man.

Oh that was a good decision, I would rather be in Yellowstone than Alaska in the Fall/Winter seasons.

In that case, it was prudent and probably triggered the sender more by seeing it unread than anything you could have responded.

Yup, Denny was obviously triggered that I didn’t open up 2 out of the 3 messages he sent me. I accidentally opened one but didn’t read it anyway.
