I’ve seen an accident on I-95S exactly like this late one night. Apparently the car pulled out of a rest area directly in front of a 18 wheeler going maybe 70mph, and what was left, looked just like this. I’m not easily shaken, but this caused me to stop at the next exit to collect myself.
I don’t know many, including myself, who wouldn’t have needed to do the same.
If you want to see some really bad drivers ride a motorcycle for a season or two. On the other side of the coin, watch what some motorcyclists do with wheelies, lane splitting and weaving traffic lanes at high speeds. I've had a driver's license for 60 years and have ridden motorcycles, at various times, for probably 25 of those years. Fortunately I've not seen many accidents, but have read and heard of them. I have seen quite a few near misses that could have been avoided or could have been serious injuries or deaths.

I’m told that this was once a full-sized pickup truck. I be that the driver did not make it!
This looks like someone created this picture. Seems to me this incident would have caused a fire or explosion.

A crash followed by an explosion or fire a quite rare except on TV. I had a case once where two semi’s hit head on at highway speeds. The state trooper that first arrived on the scene thought it was one truck initially. Both drivers survived. The at fault driver was high on meth towing a tanker trailer with hot tar for road construction. He walked away, the other driver had badly broken legs but eventually was able to walk. Causing driver went to prison.

When I see someone driving oddly they are playing with their phone. I would think that is what happen in this case.
That would not surprise me!

My wife and I were rear ended on Tuesday, by an unlicensed 17 year old kid. He said he dropped his water bottle and bent down to pick it up. It could have been worse, but $3,000 worth of repairs and back pain are now realities. No do overs, pay attention drivers!
Sorry to hear that Jim. I hope you back injuries clear up soon.

I drive a 45-foot 50,000-lb Bus RV that has an alarm system to notify me when a vehicle is too close or if I get too close to the center line so that's a big help. Far too many automobile drivers fail to understand that when I travel at highway speeds, my stopping distance is not the same as theirs.
The real idiots quickly switch lanes so close in front of me that I lose sight of them. I can only imagine that they must enjoy gambling and playing Russin Roulette.
I used to have a 35ft diesel pusher motor home but that didn't have any of those warning systems. Many a time I cursed when a driver cut in front of me!
