We are a long way from Ultimate AI. In my mind Ultimate AI implies self awareness, the capability to analyze surroundings then make logical conclusions and perform physical actions independently. I watched part of a sci-fi movie a while back, I think the title was "Wifey", about future production and deployment of AI Humanoid Robots. These robots were marketed to lonely men as an alternative to wives. They were 100% physically independant with customizable interaction algorithms/settings via voice commands. The thing what impressed me most was the subtle acting skill of the actress whose movements were so fluid and robot like they were totally believable. The company also produced male models but the female ones were the biggest sellers.

But the drone operator or the person responsible for the data capture is the one who isolates the frames and recognizes relevant images.

But don't you think with DEEP LEARNING the drone operator or data capture specialist will be eliminated... Therin lies the rub when it pertains to military operations...

Me! It is a DJI Mini 2 "Aerial Camera" and taking pictures with it is a lot of fun.

However, when you send a drone aloft and it comes back with an image, it isn't yours, but the machine's. It would be as if you and I were standing together somewhere and you handed me your camera and said "Here, take a picture with my camera." You wouldn't say that the image was yours. But I agree that it could be great fun.

Personally I don't like it. I prefer the "real" world.

I suppose depending on what we are talking about, most of us prefer our own version of the facts. Sometimes on this site, speaking for the male contingent, their view of cameras can be similar to their view of women, some like the gal they're with and others have a wandering eye.

Why fear AI just another tool helps speed up processes also more creative control of your finished photograph. Photography should not restrict AI no more than what type of brush a painter used, when he painted, what he did not see

The discussion around AI is on several levels. At a basic level it can be a post processor on steroids to, as you say, speed up the process {and help achieve} a more creative control of the finished product. Then a another level, AI has the capacity and potential to alter what we believe is the truth. This is more than sky replacement or removing unwanted items, or even people from an image. Even now AI can replicate your voice so accurately that you can't tell that its not you. People could receive calls from "loved ones" saying that they're in an emergency situation asking for money only to later find out that they've been scammed. Folks with a whole lot more tech savvy than me, including some of early developers and promoters of AI have been sound the warning, even before Congress, about dire threat of AI to alter life as we now know it. No, AI is much more than just a handy tool.

What passes for Creative Eye in the UHH Gallery section could easily be produced, in quantity, by AI.

Commercial photography is generally a matter of communication via cliches, so that is easily replaced by AI.

Next time you have a wedding in the family, don't hire a photographer, just have MidJourney do all your wedding pictures.
