Possibly the you tube is for Z6&7 ? Its verrrrry simple and straight forward with those. Their "Display" menu is rather simple and short.

OTOH Ive found two oddities or failures the Z6&7 firmware so Im about ready to believe youve likewise found a failure in the Z9. In classic UHH fashion, youve got plenty of guessing bozos posting links ... but NOT ONE hands-on Z9 user has yet plainly said "Ive got grids in the monitor and EVF, while shooting, and this was my menu path." Not a one :-(

BTW I dont recall any reply suggesting to call Nikon to have them walk you thru it.

A call to Nikon is out of the question for now. The one time I called them with a question I finally answered for myself, no one could help. This is frustrating enough without adding another layer. The thought just crossed my mind to post my question on one of the Z9 FB groups. Think I'll try that.

How about giving Nikon a call or sending email to service?

Thanks to all who took the time to reply. Thanks to Steve Perry's forum (Back Country Gallery) I have the answer. It was a bit complicated. The answer begins on page 630 of the user manual. I was missing one step.

Great news ! So this thread should wrap right up ... in about 8 or 9 more pages.

I had already posted the correct answer and that didn't stop anything. Since it is a new camera I'm not sure 8 or9 pages will be correct.

You are absolutely correct, Bill. As soon as someone on Steve's forum posted a detailed, step-by-step response, and I confirmed it had worked, responses came to a halt. A huge difference between the 2 forums. However, I DO enjoy UHH. Most of the members here feel like old friends.

I'm just glad it is working out for you. Something like that could be very frustrating.

I sense that youre thinking rationally ... which acoarst at odds with our environs. Yes its new and expensive, which limits the pool of experienced knowledgeable respondents. But lack of knowledge and experience wont deter many Hawgsters. Maybe it even encourages them !
