Hello all,

I am pulling my hair out & need some guidance. Normally, I set up the grid on all my cameras. However, I have been singularly unsuccessful at setting up the grid (view finder and LCD screen) on my Z9. Either I'm stupid or blind, but I cannot figure out how to set up the 3 x 3 grid on my Z9 for use while I am shooting. It's on the playback screen, but NOT on my viewfinder or on the LCD WHILE I'm shooting. It's important to me because I use the grid as a guide when composing a shot.

Thanks in advance

Tried those, but only puts the grid on the display - not in the viewfinder or the rear screen. I need it while actually taking the shot. Seems as though this option is NA on the Z9.
Thank you for trying though!!

Did you google your question? A YouTube video usually exists.

I ALWAYS google it before posting a question. Before I google, I read the manual (refer to my "signature"). There were way more possibilities than I had time to slough through!

I think Mr. Williams already nailed it.

You are welcome. This video shows how to set it up in the Z9. I just did a Google search and found it in a few seconds.

Cheers and best to you.

Thanks, all. None of these work for displaying the grid while actually shooting. Those only show the grid AFTER the shot is taken. None of the options in "D shooting/display" allow a framing grid to be displayed in either the viewfinder or on the LCD screen while shooting the image. I tried them all prior to posting the question. Either I am missing something or this is just not an option in the Z9. My firmware IS up-to-date (3.10).

Saw this one when I did my google search, but it's not for the Z9.

You could solve this problem with a sharpie. :)

Possibly the you tube is for Z6&7 ? Its verrrrry simple and straight forward with those. Their "Display" menu is rather simple and short.

OTOH Ive found two oddities or failures the Z6&7 firmware so Im about ready to believe youve likewise found a failure in the Z9. In classic UHH fashion, youve got plenty of guessing bozos posting links ... but NOT ONE hands-on Z9 user has yet plainly said "Ive got grids in the monitor and EVF, while shooting, and this was my menu path." Not a one :-(

BTW I dont recall any reply suggesting to call Nikon to have them walk you thru it.
