Does anyone have a lead where I can have a Mamiya Sekor 1000DTL cleaned and repaired?
The shutter does not actuate, the meter does work, and it seriously needs a deep cleaning.
This was my first camera from 1968.
It looks like they sell on ebay from $25 to $80. I recognize the sentimental value. But, for economic value, you'd be better off finding one that works already rather than throwing money into a broken body.

That's my feeling, but sentimental value. Most on ebay were "parts only" or "not tested".

You might have to provide a parts-only body along with the original to get anyone to even look at it.

Try Roberts Photo in Indianapolis (they are online). They do good work and might give it a try.

So Peter, there is nothing wrong with a beaten up broken body. Look at me. I look like a cheap suit falling apart.
In all seriousness the body of a favorite camera can rest comfortably under a clear acrylic box and placed upon a shelf.
If you're determined to get your MS 1000DTL repaired, I had good success with Camtronics Camera Repair in Columbus, OH when we lived there. Their website is

Sorry Paul! Autocorrect was on. Unless you plan on changing your name.

When you said the shutter does not actuate you meant the shutter is cocked but you can't release the shutter at all. Does the mirror go up?

KEH does my repairs.
Doesn't KEH have a fixed and / or minimum cost for repairs, something in the $300 range?

That's actually sounds reasonable although it's too much money to invest in the camera. If my film camera broke I wouldn't send it to someone to fix it.

They do. And, IMO, it is well worth it for gear that is of the right value both personally and financially. They do great work.
Sentimental value is sentimental value. If I care enough for a camera that has that sentimental value to me, fixing it would be a given, regardless of if the fixing cost more than the camera; which is not the point at all.
As a matter of fact I've done just that to my very first camera ever, a beautiful very competent Chinon CE-4s which was frozen. I couldn't engage the shutter release. I got it fixed for twice the value of the camera, but hey I'm still using it. My baby. I'll never get rid of it. And I just bought a Nikon FM3a which far, far superior camera, but still I'm keeping and using my First camera ever.
OP does not say where he's located but if in South Florida Camera Clinic in Fort Lauderdale would be a good place to call. 954-491-6888.
