I had to reimport all my thousands of phots after the latest Lightroom update. What the H????
I haven't updated my desktop yet, so I will be wary getting started. The update went smoothly on my laptop.

I had no problem whatsoever. It may have updated it but since it went smoothly, I simply do not remember. The latest version represents another nice advance in LR. The AI selection tool is great.
You have my sympathies. Perhaps the catalog was in a non standard location?

That is a disaster. Did you get help, product support or guidance anywhere?
Did you try opening an existing or current backup catalog?
Same old external drive as ever
All of the projects I had planned for today have to wait hours now

And, when you do a fresh import, all your editing work stored in the catalog is gone. Did you look for your current or backed up catalogs?

You mean the update released this week. Were you up to date before that? Did you contact Adobe support?

I just finished, and I had absolutely no problem. All images present and accounted for.

No problems at all with the update, so far only on MacBook Pro M1 2020, iOS 13.2.1.
